How do you build backlinks to an article?

I hope this isn't a dumb question  but when I write an article for a keyword I'm targeting it usually gets on the first page of google only to disappear a few days later. I read an article that said to keep your article on the first page of google you need to build links to your article but it didn't say how to do it so I was hoping my fellow warriors could help me.

You can write article and link your keyword to the article you are wanting to build backlinks for. You could use web 2.0 properties to link back as well such as Squidoo, Hubpages. You can create tons of unique content to submit to all kinds of article directories and link back. You can also start a free blog on any platform, though Wordpress and/ or Blogger is the most suggested platforms. You could comment on other blogs or forums (relevant, helpful cmments please not pure spam) that are on the same niche and hyperlink your forum signature or insert your website in your comment.

All these will build backlinks. Do a little research and find out how many backlinks the number 1 and number 10 of the first page of google has for that term. Also look at the pr of these backlinks they have and what they use as their anchor text. This will give you an idea of a target number to have.

When you build back links to an article, make sure that the article is on your website/blog.

If you are talking about articles on directories, then I would not advise you to build back links to them. Use whatever you have for building backlinks and direct them to the article on your website.

Don't wast the power of back links building a web property that you don't own.

      Best of luck!
