Quick question guys...

I am thinking of adding a resource blog (Already have a news section at domain.co.uk/news) this has got my thinking of where to put it.

Blog.domain.co.uk

domain.co.uk/blog

or separate www blog .co.uk

I was talking to someone recently and they said that if I wanted it to help build my main site up the rankings then a domain.co.uk/blog and blog.domain.co.uk were best and both are now seen as equals in google’s eyes.

Does anyone know if this is true and subdomain and subfolder are the same thing in google’s eyes now?

I've heard that subdomains are seen more as a "new" domain then directories. But if you got already a news section as a directory then I would add the blog as a directory also.

Matt Cutts has an article about it here

I also saw a video where he said it was better to put your blog in a subdirectory. Plus, if he does it on his own site (as above) its good enough for me.

PS. Matt Cutts is the head of Google’s Webspam team, and is in charge of search quality etc. Basically, when he talks about SEO, he's not guessing. He writes the rules - listen to him
