But then again, don't you think that Apple will do their research and make sure that no one owns the domain name for name of their next product before deciding to use that name?

I think they would, so you would change the flow of history and end up with a domain name worth $10...

I had a silly little bit of software years ago. Another company was releasing software by the same name, and found mine before they released theirs. They actually asked me permission to use the name.

In retrospect, I should have probably negotiated for a copy of the software or something instead of quickly replying "Sure." LOL.

Not terribly long ago, a website I occasionally visited changed their name and domain name. A big concern had changed their brand name, and apparently did not discover until afterwards (but before they went public) that the name was already sort of in use and in the same niche. So, to be certain, they bought the rights to the name (for an undisclosed amount) from this website that had been using it for years.

Plus, Apple may not be the best example here either. Remember the InfoGear iPhone?

Indeed. Studying the history of marketing and the history of business.

Product life cycles used to be decades. Now they're weeks. We can derive a lot of knowledge about the potential for success of a product or company based on the volume of analysis we now have at our fingertips.

This is how angel investors, VCs, etc... have perfected investing to a near science.

And yes, Lant is one of the grandmasters that gets overlooked.

There are web sites where you can find out, for example, who is going to be on Letterman and Leno and all the talk shows next month.

MOST of these people are PROMOTING something, a book or movie.

Take a BIG time marketer like Disney, who will spend millions to promote their newest movie, with tie ins, licensing agreements...literally millions of dollars exchanging hands.

So, if you KNEW, say, Who was appearing on TV (and search trends reflect TV guests and new releases), what movie was coming out, what the story line was, etc.

HOW would you go about setting up a "profit center" from it?

We are a celebrity crazed culture, and with tools like Twitter and Facebook at our marketing disposal, we can create a FAN page, in other words, we can capture certain KEYWORD searches, the generic kind and even paid...because we KNOW with certainty what people will be searching for on any given day in the future...

And we can target products and offers to this flood of traffic BECAUSE we took the time to set up simple yet KEYWORD rich simple sites, blogs and Facbook pages.

Does that make sense?

It's not enough to see into the future. The question is, "do you have all it takes to take advantage of what you have seen." what you saw may be mouth-watering but is it convenient? Can you pay the price?

We have different measures of strength.

Please, my responses are not meant to expose my sig file. I can even turn my sig file off right now.

My point is that I can only profit from it if other prevailing factors such as resources at my disposal will be enough. Why? I hate borrowing!

Another point is that if it requires strength, I will check my level of strength at the moment to know whether it will be enough.

I think God that made us not to see the future, as it were, is not a fool.

I do it with the NFL and college football weekly.
Take a look at past weekly trends in any niche.
There are patterns that repeat like clockwork.

I plan on doing it with the NBA this year also, but
probably won't do that great as I don't follow it like I do
the NFL and College football.

The Warrior forum is "about making money" and in my few contributions, I try to stay on topic.

KNOWING what is going to happen in the future, by paying attention to media, knowing what movies are coming out, who is doing publicity etc., can give an astute person a "leg up" on what generic search trends are coming his way. And with very small investment that person can OWN the search engines for a couple of days.

There are fan pages, blogs and Twitter and other social media which can positioned in a way to capitalize on the "future" events, including the Parade of Life events.

I was hoping to maybe, perhaps, get lucky and have one Warrior who is not a wise guy UNDERSTAND the power of this "foresight" and have other ideas on how to cash in.

I see, at this point, I was wrong.

I'm NOT going back to watch the movie I saw once, what, 25 years ago (I'm sure you know EXACTLY when it came out) to see which Biff it was who got the goods, but, damn man, thanks for the correction.

If there is ONE warrior who has an interest in learning how or is already monetizing future events, please PM me, and you and I can have an intelligent conversation about it, fair enough?

I posted on my forum YEARS ago about "keyword speculation". In that post I speculated on an unknown high school basketball player by the name of Lebron James.

I've also made posts about getting the names of hurricanes and creating sites about them, since hurricanes are named years in advance.

But I really missed on "glofish". It is a DNA altered fish that "glows". When if first was marketed, I thought that there would be a lot of controversy about the DNA engineering which would get it a lot of press, but it didn't happen, at least as a keyword phrase.

Plus, at the time I wasn't sure how to monetize it...

Another possibility is the 2012 presidential elections. We have a pretty good idea of who will be running now, but you could start something like:
Him vs Her, using all the names of the likely candidates.

By building now, you'd have about a year and a half to build links and let them mature before the real campaigns began. Probably not a great niche to make money in, but it demostrates the principles of keyword speculation.

Had you started a blog or "fan page" (even though Facebook wasn't around) or a web site dedicated to the following of LeBron James ... imagine the traffic you would have had this past summer before and after the big announcement? And selling just his bobble head alone (via affiliate links) might have proved profitable.

Thank you. Your last sentence could be worth the cost of all the WSO's currently running. It requires some THINKING, but without a doubt. BILLIONS of dollars are being gathered TODAY to be spent over the next year and a half leading up to one of the most significant events of our lifetime...the "direction" of the USA.

PS. My high school friend Mike was the head coach at St. V-M when LeBron was in junior high...then he moved on to our alma mater, Cuyahoga Falls. Another friend who has been a local CYO coach for decades dragged me to see this "kid" play.

I've had the good fortune to watch LeBron play since he was about 13. Truly a PHENOM.

And Akron is very proud of our "favorite son", no matter who he plays for, he's still playing for US Akronites.

why do you need to travel into the future.

It is much easier spending a day and having a look at what trends are developing, no crystal ball needed there. It is pure common sense. I do this alot and it works a charm. The negative side is these niches only last a year or so and die out.

On the plus side, man they go gangbusters for years and years. You just gotta not put all your eggs in one basket. It is a known fact in IM to sell what is already selling. Forget the rest. Go to where the traffic is already going and move that traffic / audience infront of your offer. That is how I make my living online.

u dont have to be psychic, just know where to look and how to study and formulate a plan. There are new trends forming every day. We all know the internet is not dormant it is an eating, breathing, alive dragon, and a beast that is constantly changing. At time hard to keep up with LOL

Don't miss the point.

Last November, someone made a post that explained exactly what they did to create an online Halloween costume shop. Granted, they had to use other IM skills, like drive targeted traffic to it. But their 'being able to see in to the future' (that Halloween was coming), allowed them to have a big payday. (I forget how much, but it was substantial). They started it way before Halloween, they didn't wait until 10/31 in the morning to get it up.

People talk ALL the time about how to profit from 'trending topics' on Twitter or Google. IF you take the time to see what movies are coming out, what celebs will be on publicity tours and when, etc. You can literally 'see into the future'. That gives you days instead of hours to set up ways to profit from these 'trending topics'; some which come around EVERY YEAR!

So I got to ask, how many have a Halloween type site with a profit center in it this October? Not only has it been a 'sure thing' we would have a Halloween this year, but it has been known for 12 months. It has also been known that there is a LOT of money attached to that 'future event'. (And last year, someone here even told us how to profit from it).

I believe that is what is meant by 'what if you could KNOW the future', because the fact is, you CAN! (Without Biff's sport's book).

Disclosure: I do not have a Halloween site. And I have no intentions of explaining why. I am also not posting topics like: 'IM is BS'. Lol.

As I peer into my "Cyrstal Ball", I see:

On Nov. 1, the orange and brown shelves of Walmart turn red and green.

I guarantee it. What used to be a small section in stores, now, Halloween has become a huge holiday and one of the great sales days for merchants everywhere, INCLUDING the savvy Warrior who cashed in last year.

The Walmart shelves of Halloween "stuff" become filled with Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff.

Then in Feb. with Valentine's Day stuff.
In July, with July 4th stuff.

etc. etc. etc.

This is the Parade of Life OPPORTUNITY which any Warrior (not concerned with what Mr. Spock said in the 2nd season, episode two)...

can SEE coming and begin today to monetize it.

The other poster mentioned the 2012 Election, where BILLIONS of dollars are going to be spent. HOW can we cash in? This is why I posted. To SHARE ideas with other Warriors who can clearly see there is an opportunity.

But, now, I think it best to communicate those opportunities (and YES, I'm taking advantage of them) with Warriors who may actually want to make some money as opposed to seeing their name in print or the ones that merely want to expose themselves (via sig) file) and hope someone is looking their way.

I might invest in stock or bonds BUT, with MY luck, I would keep a person from making money that caused the move, etc...

HECK, in the 80s, I wanted to buy apple for 14 because some idiot caused problems when I wanted it at that price. I got to HATE EF hutton. It was selling for $17. As I recall, $17 THEN would be worth about $2351.44 at the price right now! ****BUT**** I was buying round lots then, so $1700 = $235144 GEE, what I couldn't do with THAT kind of money. I could probably open 3 franchises, and just relax. Or MAYBE I could work through the distributor garbage, and give fryes a run for their money. But I had NO idea it would take off like THAT!

HECK, in 1987 I ALMOST, I ALMOST bought a share of BRK.A for about $8000! Well, it hasn't split, unlike apple, but today is worth about $124648.02. Not as good as apple, but still good.

Firstly gjabiz some of your responses are unnecessarily harsh especially on some of the people that looked at the headline and saw a quick fun post ( I must admit I really try and only respond when I can add value but once in a while a fun 1 or 2 liner is a fun change.)

Having said that, I enjoyed your post because it really got me thinking. I believe there are many many more recurring events that could be used for massive gain.
Just reading this I have seen 3 guaranteed future events I did not think about.

Just today I was talking with someone and saying if only we had bought into Google in the 90's or started adwords when it was 10c a click etc..

But you have highlighted that there are many certainties in life that are future events that we are not looking at as marketers. Look at FIVERR for how many years have people seen what people were willing to do for $5 and someone thought well thats not going to change so why don't I facilitate the sale.

I would love to know more so I would love more of your ideas on this.... great thread there are many more things that are certain in life than just death and taxes.

I would win the lottery about 6 different times and I am talking the big game mega millions or Powerball. I would be the first in history to win it 6 times and noone could pin it on me for time travel or seeing into the future it would be a gift lol ..... I would just travel the World without any worries. That would be cool with my laptop of course because I really do enjoy Internet marketing!
