I'm looking for a good FREE pdf converter.I tried a few online but it requires a 30 minute wait between documents and I need to convert a bunch of them. Also the other converters I tried new hyperlink so users who read it can not click through.

Can anyone suggest a good pdf converter that displays hyperlinks?

I use Primo PDF converter. (Google "primo pdf converter")

It is free and I just tested it before this post to ensure that it display hyperlinks after it converts them.

    Good luck.

I tried that one and it didn't work. In word I just use a standard hyperlink. Do you use html or just a normal hyperlink?

        Vanquish,

I just opened up Word, typed in http:// followed by the address and a .com and it used Primo to convert it and it worked fine. I then followed the link from the newly-created PDF, which worked as well.

        Good luck.

I use NitroPDF for all my files and I went and took a look and they have a number of free downloads you can use as well.

Visit here and see if this helps you out. They even have one called PrimoOnline which lets you create pdf files without downloading any software whatsoever.

I was in the same situation. Needed a simple and easy to use tool to convert files to pdf. I tried a few things, but finally a warrior suggested OpenOffice. Its more than a pdf converter. You can use it for many different tasks one of which is a one click pdf converter. It doesn't get any easier than this. Open Office

I use primo PDF but one fellow warrior pointed out that it may not work best if your document has filled or colored shapes. You can try out the plugin if you’re using MS Office 2007 or use open office instead for this purpose alone.

You did not specify exactly what you want the PDF converter to do and that is important.

If you simply want to convert documents into reports or ebooks, then use the free Open Office suite - link below:-

      download: OpenOffice.org Downloads

You will want to use the Open Office Writer (there are many other features in the suite). Copy in your text and format it. You can then use the PDF function to convert your text to a professional PDF.

Many pro marketers use this system, so don't underestimate it because it is free.

      Best of luck,
      Jeff.

My absolute favorite source for creating e-books/reports/etc is hands down adobes "Buzzword". I love it. It's free(with an option to upgrade). You can use it by creating a free account at: acrobat.com

I use doPDF v7.0 to convert any kind of document or web page or anything else to PDF.

OpenOffice any how supports converting to PDF by default.

    Hi Vanquish,

I did an extensive search on PDF creators some weeks back.
I don't like Open Office because I don't want to install another full Word Processor, when I already have MS Office.

You'll find across the net many Free PDF printers, creators and converters.
However most of them will add a link or some kind of watermark in all new created PDF files.
They also don't include Hyperlink support and therefore your links are not clickable from inside the PDF.

    One Option: PDF Printer
But I found one that's free, works perfectly well directly from inside MS Word as a plug-in and as a PDF printer.
It's free and no reference to the site is included to your PDFs.
The only thing is that it requests you to upgrade to the Pro version every time you use it.
If interested, you can find it here:

    » PDF Printer - Free PDF Converter » PdfPrinter.com

I have used it for some time and it works well.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Option: Microsoft Office PDF Add-in
Also Microsoft has now created a PDF support for all its Office programs.
This means that you can now create a PDF version of any file created with an MS Office program by way of "Save as PDF".
You just need to download the add-in program and install it.
MS Word and other MS Office programs will recognize it when in use.
Here is the link with information and download link from MS website.
Download details: 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS

    Great Success To You,

I thank everybody for their replies on this thread. However I have just one question:
What features do all these freebies offer, which the new built in Microsoft PDF converter doesn't have? Are they indeed better than what Microsoft offers? I prefer not to clutter up my hard-disk with redundant programs. I have already used the "save as PDF" option in WORD and I was satisfied with the results.

Open Office is the best free tool out there but I use "Adobe Acrobat PRO Extended" because it has many amazing features that are simply not available on any free or other paid tools. It's quite costly and won't recommend if simply converting normal .doc to pdf is what you need.

I use Cute PDF. It was a free download and installs like a printer driver. I am not 100% sure if the hyperlinks display but it's free and quick to install so it might be worth a try to see.

    Hey,

I use s very tiny free program called doPDF. (You'll find it on google). It integrates with MS Word and to convert to PDF's your basically go to print, change your printer to doPDF.

Then a small window will come up about where your PDF is going to be saved and your done.

    1. Save word document in MS office 2003 format. 2. Upload document to Google doc through IE or Google Chrome (FF doesn't support) 3. Download uploaded document as PDF. You'll get PDF document with activate hyperlinks.
