Why You Won't Ever Make It Online

Hey,

I'm new here- but not new to the scene. I've been into IM pretty heavily for close to three years, with very little to show for it(minus some empty pockets and disappointed family). As the old adage goes: I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I'm more than willing to work my ass off with internet marketing. I don't care if it means I get 4 hours of sleep every night and then work my day job. I WILL make this work.

I know there are a LOT of other people that have the same mindset as me.

I've finally come to the point where I understand why I haven't had any REAL success.

I haven't had an exact goal to work towards. I haven't had a complete blueprint to follow. Instead, I've got hundreds of voices from successful internet superstars ringing in my head every single day. Telling me they care about my success and that this "new" product is going to be the "missing piece of the puzzle" for my internet marketing business...

Yea you all know what I'm talking about- or most of you do.

I've been a "lone wolf" for too long now, and I know I've suffered because of it. That's why I've come here. I want to get involved in a small group of IMers like me.

Just the fact that I'm able to see hundreds and thousands of people with the same interest in me- makes a world of difference. Like most of you, I don't get the privilege of being surrounded by like minded people everyday. I'm stuck with old friends that don't have any interest in having any kind of business- especially an online business.

I've been blue in the face out of frustration for too long. I've eaten way too much damn fast food, drank too much beer, and spent way too long in front of a computer trying to put the pieces together.

I'm ready for the next step- and I hope that's here.

Anyways- I just wanted to introduce myself
I'd love to hear from you. Leave a reply or add me on skype.

Peace,
-Ryan Leonard

    Hi Ryan.

Sounds like you are already making the right steps.

And here is some advice for you - for now, go unsubscribe from all those lists (if you are). And then only purchase something if it will help you on the path you are on.

For example, you decide that you want to make your own product but you are unsure about email follow up and promotion. So you look for a good email course.

    Make sense?

Next, you do need to set goals. So what goals do you want? What do you want to achieve. And what are your strengths?

Lets get a discussion going and maybe we can all help you out!

      Thanks man, I appreciate it.

What you're saying makes total sense- and I've already done that to an extent. I think tonight I'm going to do it for REAL. I suppose I've always held back because it felt like my only connection to the internet marketing world... Now I know how warped that mindset is lol.

What are my goals, and dreams online?

I'm ambitious and have quite a few. I would like to form an empire that employs thousands of honest, talented people that all have the ability to work their way up and start their own successful enterprises.

(I'm kind of figuring this out as I go along. A lot of this has been in the back of my head for a long time.)

I believe that the first "niche" I'd like to dominate would be the dating niche- simply because I see so many guys that are totally clueless as to what it means to be a man. It frustrates me, and I feel for them. And most importantly I feel that the lack of real men out in the world is starting to have a very bad impact on all of us.

The dating niche is a great way to hit the masses with my information. I love David DeAngelo's stuff- but I want to take a slightly different approach. I've actually written an ebook that I would be happy to let a few warrior members that are interested in this topic have a free copy to read- and give me feedback on. (PM me if interested)

To be honest, I'm tired and my brain is quite fuzzy at the moment. I'm not making a whole lot of sense even to myself right now lol. But I think you can start to get an idea of where I'm coming from.

Thanks for your feedback so far.

Oh man oh man oh man...you hit my hottest button...you are going to make it, I can already tell.

        Why?

That driving ambition to create WEALTH for everyone involved, not just money, but happiness.

Also, that is my ultimate dream as well, so FINALLY hearing someone speak it back to me has got me fired up! (too many newbies "just want to make some money")

You have an ambition to create a business - a large business - and I believe that is something a lot of people around here don't desire. (not that it's a bad thing, it's just that aligns with my goals)

You know what you aught to do - start making info products. (sorry if you mentioned that in your reply, I was too excited when i read that to read the rest)

Own an empire of your own products, with thousands of affiliates promoting you.

        I'm PM'ing you.

        Rob

EDIT: BTW - read John's post if you haven't - a lot of good info about goal setting.

      Ryan,

You are right, you are not alone, although each one out there has the same problem from a different angle. Setting goals is very important, but I also think that a mentor is essential for the first steps. I am not one, but I am sure this forum might have some. And I am not talking about spoon feeding either.. no .. but someone who had done it for a while, with some repeatable results who can give general direction.

Reading tutorials is fundamental, but you need to trust that something actually works, you need to figure out a way to confirm authenticity of a product or a system. The biggest problem is that IM is both a Product and a Business. So many times you wonder if someone is just trying to sell or is she genuine.

I don't want to go all "New Age" on you, but there's an important distinction between "hopes" and "goals" that can really get you thinking about this stuff the right way...

You "hope" for $10,000/month (or whatever). Even though that's specific, that's not really a goal. Easy to make this mistake.

"Goals" are all the daily ACTIONS you take to get where you "hope" to go.

In my opinion, this is what messes up a lot of wannabe marketers. It's so easy to get hyper-focused on hopes. You never figure out the individual actions you have to take every day to achieve the goals that get you there.

Your dream to form a business that employs thousands is a hope. But you only get there if you tuck that away and spend all your working time on first figuring out the many actions you need to take to get there, and then setting goals to achieve each of those steps.

Hopes = thoughts/fantasies/dreams (all mental stuff)
Goals = specific actions geared toward moving you to fulfillment of your hopes

It's not enough to hope. It can be motivating, sure. But plenty of people who have failed had big hopes and dreams. They just didn't chart the right course and/or they didn't take enough of the right actions to reach the goals along the way that would produce the fruition of those hopes.

    That's the key, imho.

      Thanks John,

You're absolutely correct. I've read enough self help stuff to know that, and at certain times I did have actual goals. It's just that now I've become overwhelmed and overstuffed with information (info overload) that I've lost sight of what it is I need to do on a daily basis. It's the fact that there are tons of people with different strategies, and I just need to have the right foundation.

I've made the huge mistake of starting TONS of foundations- but never seeing them through 100% of the way. I've come close- and then I run into a wall I can't break through and someone happens to email me something that seems to address my problem- and I fall into the trap of buying into more material that leaves me with 100 more questions- and no gurus to answer.

I appreciate your input- and I'm going to act on it.

I'm going to find the direction I need to take, and start taking action EVERYDAY.

      Thanks A LOT,

    Hi Ryan,
Thanks for sharing your story about how you got started and the problems that you are experiencing now.

Goals setting is the fundamentals of any success if you wanna progress and move forward.

In fact it is a principle that each must adopt and implement it daily in their lives and make it as a habit.

I write my Journal every day, in the morning and in the night.

Every single day I remind myself, the direction that I am heading, where am I right now and how am I going about achieving my goals one step at a time.

If you want to achieve success and start to make money online, you need to keep track of your daily progression, daily activities you are engaged in, whether the tasks you do on that day makes you money or just time wasting.

You have to evaluate your actions and held responsible for the things you have done and have not done.

Once you do that, everything will fall into place.

It is always best to read books on goal setting. I highly recommend "Awaken The Giant Within" by Anthony Robbins.

It is the one book that I read that completely change my way of thinking, having dreams and visions and set the way and direction to a great and promising future.

Of course if defers from one person to another.

But the main point is to cultivate good habits and do it consistently every single day.

You will be surprised by how much you have achieved, just doing the simple little things each day, never give up, writing journal, keep track and pondering about your next step to take.

The only business model that works for me is the List building model.

That's the model that I strongly believe in since from the beginning.

I tried many different models like review sites, blogging and PPC.

But at the end of the day, I made my money through List building which is the fundamentals of Making Money Online.

    The 3 Fundamental Steps Are:
    ===================
Step 1: Setup your Marketing System
Step 2: Drive Traffic buying Solo Ads
Step 3: Drive more traffic doing Adswaps

That is the 3 fundamental steps I took to make me $1000/mth income online.

    Hope it helps,
    Winson

I really appreciate the feedback. I actually bought a journal and did that a few months ago- but alas, I slacked off. I'm glad you mentioned it though- I should REALLY start doing that again. I would love to read the book- it's by Tony Robbins right? I think I'll also FINALLY go through my "Wake Up Productive" course by Eben Pagan. I've been putting it off for too long.

      Thanks again for the feedback.
