It takes me between now and then.

Yes, define your project and give yourself a deadline.

My time can't be your time. It all depends on how well you know the subject, your self-discipline, time management skills, etc.

What takes me a day might as well take you a decade.

FYI, my current product has already taken 17 days. My deadline is October 30th, 2010.

Wow, that depends highly on the product.

    A PLR 10-Pack? One Day.

An Ebook? It could be a couple days, or a couple months, depending on the content needed, the length of the material, and whether I'm willing to drop everything else to do it.

There are three answers to that.

    1. Finding the subject for your next product.

    2. Finding the information you need for that product.

    3. Turning that information into the product.

Over time, you start constantly doing (1) and (2), so it seems like they don't take any time at all.

You basically go through a simple set of steps to identify which of the many subjects right in front of you are the best for a new product, then identify which of those subjects requires the smallest amount of research.

Yesterday morning, I noticed that four threads had been started about sales funnels. Thinking back a little, I realised that several others had been started earlier in the week. So I went to the WSO forum, where I saw not one product about building sales funnels.

And I know about sales funnels already, so steps (1) and (2) were finished in about five to ten minutes. When I first started making products, however, finding a topic took about three weeks and researching it took about two more.

Step (3) took approximately twelve hours, all things considered. That's from absolutely nothing to a full-blown product that you can just click a button and buy. Again, when I first started, this took a lot longer - about a week.

Of course, I'm still not quite at the Jason Fladlien level where I can have a brand new product out the door and making sales in two hours... but I'm working on it.

        1. Research in the WSO section or wherever you plan to sell and see what niches are hot.
        2. Gather content in your chosen "Hot" Niche
        3. Sort out this content and turn it into a neat step by step product.
        4. Write up sales page and finish touches to the product (read over it etc, try make it more clearer)
        5. Cash in!

        Hope this helps you!

Don't forget that you can outsource some of this and shorten the stroke a bit.

You probably will make the quickest money and get a feel for product value by putting up a WSO.

If your product sells nicely, you can self publish a book on Amazon, create a Kindle edition, market it on Clickbank, etc.

        Good luck.

Yeh you can outsource it but if your a newbie and don't have start up costs, Its better to have a go at it yourself.

Another tip is to download some free WSOs and check their style so you get a hint of how you should write a report etc..

Yep. That's true. But if you have any money at all... I have to have someone proofread for speln & gramr. 1,800 word document proofread for $5.00. Put that out in a 5-by-8 format PDF, add a title page, table of contents and you have a nice 14 page document.

I agree with others - it really depends on what the product is, how much you already know about it, as well as other variables. I have created (PLR) products in a matter of hours and other products have taken me several weeks to complete.

I have been working on an ebook for about 3 weeks now. I hope to finish it by the end of the month. This happens to be a product that I plan on putting a lot of promotional effort into. I hope it is one that will bring in profits for the long-term so putting more effort into the up-front work is well worth it for me. But I have written other ebooks with the intent of making some quick cash - and some of those projects were completed very quickly.

It could literally take forever if a deadline and complete focus is not directed to it. It's worth seeing the project through from beginning to end. Getting something completed is much better than a perfected product that may never come.

Get yourself some good flowchart software like salsa or freemind (maps out processes).

It takes me 2-3 weeks for our products typically. That is to create a 2 hour DVD full of me showing content and also an ebook with photos and text (about 100-150 pages).

There are simply too many variables in play. What takes one a week, takes another person three months. The amount of skills you have, your financial situation (outsourcing vs. DIY), completeness of information & product, research skills, back-end & front-end marketing efforts, motivation...and the list goes on & on.

Someone might product a crummy product in a week...someone might produce a crummy product in months. Someone might be able to create a product in 3 days (trust me, I've done it before). Although product creation is extremely challenging, it's nowhere near as challenging as your marketing efforts in other areas. It's an ongoing process, and you'll find yourself completing a product, but putting a lot more effort into that product even after it's completed.

    Best of luck!

It depends on the product.. I've made one in an afternoon, while I'm still working on one 2 years after I started (collecting split test data).

I am working on 2 products right now. One I doing copy and product creation, but hiring out the sales page and setup. Also I had an outsourcer take audio files I sent of me reading my ebook and turn in to a DVD for sale. About 4 weeks.
Other is simpler. I just doing a video opt-in and had an outsourcer do the report to give away to build a list in the niche. About 2 weeks.
BTW, I have two recommendations for newbies.
    1. Get a PLR product redone. I know of a great place where you can get a total repackage for under $100. All setup and ready to go.
    2. If you want affiliates to promote, consider using RAP over Click bank. You can customize so much easier. Gives affiliates instant paypal deposits.

Usually it takes me about a week for a PLR pack, but usually I'm working a regular job as well.

I also have no issue admitting a lot of people are more productive or need less sleep than I do...working on that as we speak

I have a super 5 step plan, so I can create it in 5 days if I work full time, but I have another full time job, so it usually takes me about 2 weeks or so.

    In short:

    Research an idea.
    Get source material and information.
    Create the product.
Create the sales page and link the payment processors.
    Launch the product.

    Basically that I think...

It can take people months to do it. However, if you are a good writer or good in front of the camera, it shouldn't take you more than a week.

My new project (below) took me 3 days to complete. Very long days though

the time to get an book up really depends on every individual but the most important thing isnt how fast you come out with the book but how good [quality wise] is the book.

your name really means a lot in this business so you have to associate your name with quality brand and not quantity brand.

all the same good luck with your next book

My average time is 7 to 10 days. But that is from a standing start with absolutely nothing written. Research is the hardest part; though finding some useful PLR that is not absolutely garbage also helps...

Then again, it took me nine years to finish my first novel and get it published....

I agree with the King above... Set yourself a deadline and stick to it....

I now find that as that deadline approaches (regardless what the deadline is for), I am more and more motivated to get the product finished.

And I haven't missed a deadline in the last two years...

Thanks warriors, there was really great advice. At least now I know how long it will take me to produce one product and sell them and track the results. Really appreciate your inputs.

Depends...I approach ecah one as if I were building a house...from the ground up...sometimes I find out my house looks like S*&t and I start all over again. What I DO know, is SOMEONE WILL BUY that house. I never force the process as it only pushes back...and that pisses me off.

It took me 5 months to create my first product, but since then I've created a couple more products and I'm getting better at it. One of them took me 3 months and the other I finished in 2 weeks.
