Full Time IM'ers - Do you work on weekends?

Heh, ya that's quite annoying. I notice that when I'm in the office during the week my partner & I might only do 1-3 hours of REAL WORK each day... I guess that's why I don't mind working on the weekends.

Although, We are full time affiliate SEO IM'ers... We don't really do much coaching as of yet, so I imagine our situations are slightly different

Yea, it it wasn't for having to watch my favorite TV programs on certain days of the week, I would have no clue what day of the week it is. Saturday is the same as Wednesday to me.

I mean really, what good is a paper calendar? If I don't remember what yesterday was how will it help me determine what today is?

Thank goodness I just have an updating calendar in my sidebar.

I have an online store with a 1-800 number so customers can place orders.

I've often wondered if I could get the search engines to take the weekend off.

They won't do it, so I can't either.

Exactly like your weekend me also have, and this is going very boring sometimes since there is no anyone in the day time with me.:confused:

Even on most of the 'real' jobs I've had, Saturday and Sunday were just bookends on the calendar. Evenings and weekends were when the customers were out, so we were open. Rather than TGIF, we lived by SWIF (So what, it's Friday)

I do take days off, of course. And on the days my wife has off, I may only work a few hours. Yesterday, for example, we spent the afternoon at the beach watching the first of the tourists and snowbirds who had paid hundreds or thousands of dollars to come here. The weather was perfect, the sea air was fresh, even the humidity was down.

I do the same, but OMG, i want to kill myself with the way that people typically drive at 2:30pm on a weekday. Driving 30MPH in a 40MPH zone is NOT ok

"Help, my supplier isn't responding"
"Our roof is leaking"
"PayPal: we're taking your money because an eBay buyer wants their item and their money back"

None of those things I can ignore, even if I wanted to. So responding with "It's my day off" won't work. I do reward myself and my family with computer-free week long vacations and outings.

I worked 24/7, day and night and I am not even a full time marketer. (yet)

I do work most weekends but a lot less than on week days

That's the nice thing about IM, everyday is a weekend day. Take off what ever day you want, sleep when you want. I work at 4 in the morning sometimes.

I agree, when I make my first $100,000 I'll take a break, until then I feel way behind, starting this just now at the age of 33.

Weekend is also a concept for people with a family

Ahh yes, the weekend. That's when the family wants to do some sort of group activity. Sometimes I can dodge that...:p

I really pay little attention to what day in the week it is--I have to look at the calendar for the date. My day generally starts with waking up at about 9-10AM, and concludes about 3 or 4AM. Some nights are early--1AM or so. Tonight is a 3AM workday. I do this 7 days a week...

This is a mixed affair--throughout the day I do break to attend different activities. This takes about 5 hours out of the work flow. My niche is Web 2.0 socionets based upon the Joomla! platform--and the average development time on the core is about 180 hours. This runs the gamut of planning, graphics design, FAQ creation and editing, coding specific application functions, configuration, testing, etcetera. After this comes the marketing work--selecting appropriate affiliate vendors based upon the market study site demographic and building placement and directories within the site structure. That is another 140 hours or so. Then there is getting local advertising and sponsor placement, grassroots & viral member growth, and travel. There is also a 400K+ member forum that I manage and have to keep up with.

Then, on to the next site whilst continuing the marketing operations of the previous. Perhaps when this game I have started (a couple months ago) hits its projected gross revenues in about a year--I will stop the 7 day part. But that simply does not fit into the goal structure anytime in the near future.

I must say that every week and a half I have a "to hell with it" day. There is little productive done--as a matter of fact, I try to not be productive and find other amusing projects or hobby activities to take up the time. Otherwise, I will either stroke out or lose my mind...

Firstly, IM full time is a whole new paradigm if you have the freedom to work when you want. Therefore, the whole notion of traditional weekends probably no longer applies to most of us.

For some reason, I now find myself working in a timeless universe. There are no more set 9-5 hours as there once was.

However due to having a young family, it ties up my weekends, and therefore, I only work if something is urgent.

Either way, I usually take most of Monday off and have some me time.

The other factor is time zones. Being down under, most of my contacts, clients and staff are on different zones. So Monday is a good time to have a break, because it's Sunday int he USA.

Then again, who needs weekends when you can work own hours?

I don't set a certain time for me to work a week. Except that I am in bed by 9:30-10pm most nights for a early 5am workout.

I work when I need to but I highly doubt I work the same or more than when I was working for someone else.

Plus stuff like forum surfing, etc isn't "work".
