The One Single Mindset That I Wished I Had When I First Started

Hi Warriors.

This is going to be a short post, but I don't think making it longer will add value to it. So I'm keeping it short.

The mindset that I wished I had when I first started was this:
Focus on one method of making money online, regardless if it is the hardest OR the easiest proven method.

Here's why. There are many ways to make money online and it is extremely easy to "try" a lot of them. You want to find the method most suitable to you, or so you think that's how you're going to succeed.

But the truth is, you should focus on one method only and stop "trying". You can't "try" your way to success unless you're super lucky (don't count on it).

So here's a 2-step action plan for you:

1. Find a proven method to make money online. ANY method at all - SEO, PPC, CPA, whatever. Just one.

2. Start putting the method into action. No matter how hard it is, no matter how bad you think the method is, no matter how many times you fail and fall flat. Do it until you make money from the method.

To be honest, it's easy.

Any proven method works... because it's proven.

If you aren't making money online, it's time to rethink your strategy and your approach. I'm pretty sure you're "trying" many different methods.

Follow my action plan. Find a method and stick with it. Work the method like your life depended on it.

Quitters never win, winners never quit.

It's only a matter of time before success comes knocking at your door... when you stick with proven method.

Great post and I agree with most of it except

"regardless if it is the worse OR the best method"

I think a really, really, really bad method might not be worth sticking to but it would have to be pretty bad.

Generally though you are right - stay focused, work on one project, stop looking for something better and be willing to put in the time and effort to make it work!

Very true, and as a newbie you may not know if the method even works. However, you should still try to focus on one thing at a time so you can find out in the fastest time possible whether this method or system is right for you!

    Great post Shaun.

I think anyone who's new to IM should read this & really take it in.

It's very easy to get distracted when you're just starting.

When I started I gave a few methods a “try” but only a couple of months ago I decided to do exactly as you described & I'm now making good progress.

I've picked one method & I'm giving it my full focus until I make money from it. - took me months to get this.

Once I start making money from this method I'll move onto something else & build another income stream.

    Definitely great advice.

    Shaun,

I gave you a THANKS because you just told us what I'm doing right now. However, what Sheryl said about doing something really, really bad is true. I will not not stick to the worse method but I will stick to ONE good, better or best thing.

    Cheers.

This is a great post, and I wholeheartedly agree. I am an example (I'm sure I'm one of many here!) of someone who's taken far longer than they needed because they kept trying method after method...

I do feel now as though I've stopped trying everything. Finally not only do I know what works, but I also know what works for me. After all, another problem a lot of us have is copying what others are doing - we are all different. What works for one may not work for another.

This should be required reading for all newbies!

It took me a few months before figuring out what I was doing.

The book "Think And Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill helped me a lot along my journey. I'm still reading it today.

    • Yeah great advice.

Luckily figured this out a few months into IM. Still sticking to the same method thats made me $600 since around June.

Just going to keep scaling up until I make that every week, and then move onto the next method.

Well said. That one piece of advice would have saved me years of heartache when I first started online.

Having focus on one thing at a time, and one clear goal that you pursue until you succeed or fail is imperative in IM.

    Focus is important.

It is easier said than done.

Reason is simple. Usually business people or entrepreneur are Person who like to Generate Ideas...

Entrepreneurs usually has tons of business ideas in their mind & everyday they think of a new idea by simply observing what around them

With this natural ability, they tend to fall into trap of NOT able to focus.

    Get FOCUS, warriors!

      That's why many fall short.

      That's why many fail.

A persistent attitude goes a long way.

ONE thing at a time... simple yet effective. It's all about not listening to those silly little thoughts that tell you things are going to go wrong. Have a goal but don't be too attached to it. Just keep your focus now no matter how far from the end goal you are.

    Great info - so true!

Previously, I would be working on a method, but get sidetracked with a new launch that promised to be the next best thing...

Nothing happens if you get distracted with the emails about new launches but wasting time & money.

I'm now working on a method/system steadily. I still have to watch that I don't even open those launch emails as I bite the hook line & sinker too easily.

I've gone thru & gotten off many marketer's lists who send out launch promo after another.

I know I'll eventually get it all working smoothly & bringing in income, just have to persevere.

Couldn't agree more with the OP and other comments. I fooled around with a number of strategies nevery seeing any through to completion. Then I read somewhere on WF to stick to one project for 90 days. I did, and within 2 months made more money than all months previously.

I'm now focused primarily on 2 projects only - both using applying the same techniques. I like these "stay focused" posts because I need reminders.

Brilliant advice! The trick now for me for expanding in the IM game is 'finding' the right method that fits me. I'm seeing many, many, applications based on the formulas on this site and when I do I'm sure I'll be successful.

    Awesome advice - and true!

The best way I've heard it put was in a book on success by a nuclear scientist. He said:

"If success were at the surface of a sphere, we all start out in the center. If we move steadily in ONE direction (ANY one) and keep moving, sooner or later, we WILL arrive at the surface ('success').

On the other hand, if we keep zig-zagging around, turning first one way, then another, we're likely to keep circling around near the center where we started - and maybe never reach the surface!"

This advice applies to things other than "making money online", too, btw.

    Thanks, Shaun.
