Would you be interested in this...?

Fellow Warriors,

I'm just curious as to whether or not this would be of interest to anyone before I go ahead and offer my services.

Would anyone be interested if I were to turn you articles into videos so you can post them on the popular video sites. It would be like a narrated powerpoint and it would cost around 5-10 dollars per article. I would deliver to you as a finished video in either flv or mp4 format you can just upload straight to your video sites.

Is it of interest to anyone?

  • Would you have narration along with the presentation?
  • I can see a market for this. You could even offer an upsell of distribution via TrafficGeyser or TubeMogul. Frankly, I think your price is too low.

    • Seems like a good useful service that could save Warriors' time.

I'd certainly give such a service a try.

      Regards,
      Jeff.
  • It might be of more interest if you had posted this question as a video so we can see the quality.
Lets face it if you are a signwriter you better have a good sign above your shop, or if you are a copy writer you better write your own advertising copy well.
So let us see your videos and we can make a judegement call
  • That looks quite interesting... I would recommend you to go ahead with the task.. There are very less people working on this niche, so you are gonna earn bit more with it..
  • I think it's a great idea. One of the reasons I don't do it for my own articles is time and time and then of course there's not enough time. The price sounds good too.
  • I will do a couple of samples later today and post them for you all to see. If there is enough interest in the service, I'll post a WSO and get the ball rolling.
  • Sounds like a great idea as long as the quality is solid. The price seems about right, so I think you'll be popular very quickly.
  • I was going to just choose a couple of random articles from the Internet for my samples, but if anyone has a couple they would like as videos, I'll use them as my samples so someone gets some use out of the samples. So the first 3 I receive to me as pm I will record and post later. Sorry, but I only need 3 for the samples so first in, best dressed.

    • I only need to check your voice over. That's important thing for me, not video.

If you good in voice over, I will definitely have interest in your service. But again, need your sample.
  • No problems I will provide samples later today hopefully. As mentioned though, if you have some articles you would like done for free as samples, the first 3 I receive by PM I will do for free as samples for everyone else and then if enough interest, I will post a WSO.
  • I have used this type of service at Fiverr. It took my article, had a computer voice read the article and show some quotes from the article. I gave her the music and it lasted about a min and a half or so for $5...I for one like it and if you read the article yourself and provided nice flowing graphics and such i would buy them around $5 or so dollars.
  • To make it quicker and in turn keep costs down for you guys, this would be a powerpoint presentation that displays all the text from the article over various slides and I would narrate the article - much like a video sales letter works. I don't feel there is any need for fancy graphics or anything like that. It overcomplicates things and slows down the process, meaning more cost for you guys. The people who are having most success with these types of videos are ones that are just plain text and voice. As long as the information is of quality and you keep it relatively short, people will want to click through to your site to find out more.

I too have used services on fiverr however what I found is most people used animoto or similar services to create the video and so the quality of the video was not so great. I will be using powerpoint, camtasia, and a proper Audio Technia microphone to record and narrate the videos. I have found this gives great quality.
  • Just to know your competition: there is an automated service for this - Turn any article to video with animation, music, graphics, and a full voice-over for just $1!
See, what kind of USP can you come up with, compared to them.

(I have also seen warriors offering already similar services)
  • @Istvan,

Thanks for showing me the other service. I have also seen services like that however you still need to record your own voice or find a voiceover unless you want to just settle with the automated computer voice. Personally I think the first impression someone gets of your business should be a personable one and an automated voice-over doesn't do that. There is also tweaking, etc that needs to be done.

I guess the usp of my service would be pure automation for the end-user but unique and high quality finished product. There will a lot of people who may want to use the automated services and that's great, but I'm certain there are others out there who would appreciate a more personalized and cut finished product without any input from them what-so-ever.

Thanks for the feedback - it's appreciated!
  • Heh, I actually logged on here to find the exact thing you described... yesterday... I'm interested.

You know I read this and thought about it and left the thread and then saw it again and thought of a use for this for myself ... so yes, I would buy.
  • I think it would be useful.

I'd be surprised if there are not people doing this on Fiver?
  • Rusty, there are. And I've used several of them however they all tend to use automated services such as animoto or other ones with computer voices - so the quality is not there. These will be 100% custom recorded by me and my voice.

Youtube is doing maintenance but as soon as it is over, I will have a sample here for you all to see asap. I just recorded a quick sample to give you an idea of what they would be like.

I hope I am ok posting this here. I am not trying to sell anything as yet just wanting to get an idea first if there are people interested, if there are, then I will put up an official WSO offering my services for those interested!
  • Here is a rough sample of the service I would offer.

    YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
Let me know what you think...
  • I think the problem that you have is that phillipino outsource workers have great english and could easily crank out 10 of these a day. Which means they would be charging in the $1.50 range. It might not happen, but I could see your price erode rather quickly if you have success.

      This.

I think the "entry-barrier" to this service is so low that it's not a substantial enough long-term business model: you can't stop people from competing on price, and that means that unless you can provide something genuinely unique and compete on quality/availability instead, it's not commercially viable.
    • What about the voice over? Is it clear enough to understand when they speak?

Excuse my ignorance on this subject.

  • i think its a great idea, most people who make big money on the internet find a niche that hasnt been tapped into a great deal and become the leader, i think there would definitely be a market for this
  • Guys just so you are all aware, this isn't a long-term business model for me. I will offer the service and those who want to take me up on it can. All I am trying to do is help pay some extra bills and I figured this was a way I could do it whilst also helping other IM'ers.

I am not looking to go big big with this. I would much rather have a small number of regular clients so I can offer quality, value and quick turnaround - something which is hard to find these days.

    • I say you go for it. People are going to use videos and what you are offering is one the simplest and affordable solutions. People will buy it.

      My .02 cents

  • not only will i need to use your services, but you gave me hope to jump back on the project that's been sitting on the shelf for a long time... I'll probably PM you in a week or two...

    • Just visited the site and tried several of the samples. I was not impressed. The voice/sound quality is shocking. That's enough for me not to use their option at whatever cost. Some impressive recent complimentary Tweets though - I can't understand why.

      Just my thoughts,

      Jeff.
  • Jeff, I too was not very impressed with that service and that is what a lot of people on fiverr are using to make these videos - automated computer voices. You can't use that type of quality if you are trying to build up any type of relationship with prospects.

I'll work at getting the WSO and a few more refined samples up over the next day or so and will let you all know when it is posted. Look forward to working with some of you!
