A PAYPAL bug - a workaround - and a problem

I wonder if any Warriors are having this problem.

about browsers, cookies, and making contact which is no longer

1. BUG

When I login to my account I get

Sorry -- your last action could not be completed

If you were making a purchase or sending money, we recommend
that you check both your PayPal account and your email for a
transaction confirmation during the next day.

If you came to this page from another website, please return
to that site (don't use your browser's Back button) and
restart your activity.

If you came from PayPal's website, click the PayPal logo in
the upper-left corner to return to our home page and restart
your activity. You might have to log in again

2. WORKAROUND

Paypal agree it is a bug and advise this workaround

... we are currently updating our systems and, as a result, certain
features have been affected. We're aware of this issue and we would like to
assure you that our technicians are actively working to resolve it. I have
passed on your information for inclusion in any upgrade. I regret any
inconvenience this may have caused you and appreciate your patience and
understanding. I do apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you.

In this issue, we have a temporary work around. Please follow the steps
that I have prepared for you.

1. Log-in to your PayPal account
2. You can see thee the error message 'an error has occurred after you have
clicked the last link'.
3. Click 'Help' at the upper right corner of the page near the log-out
button.
4. Click 'My account'.



3. PROBLEM

Although I can now login and can transfer and withdraw money
I cannot 'BUY' through my account.



The problem began around October 10 and I can't see it
being solved.

When I asked for a possible date for a solution I was told

"in this kind of situation, we would be unable to
give you a specific details as to when will the
technical difficulties will be resolved."


I then made a suggestion.

As it is 3 weeks since this error was reported and Paypal
are not yet able to resolve how it originated - which might
presumably require software changes - then can you simply
UNDO the setting on my database record which is stopping
access.

Just to clarify: although your workaround does allow me now
to logon I am unable to BUY anything because when I click on
a buy link the error message occurs and cannot be bypassed
this time by the workaround.

As you can see I tried to explain this in my last message
but your staff member XXX misunderstood and gave a basic
explanation on how to make a purchase with Paypal.

I do hope that my simple suggestion is actioned so that I
can now properly utilize my Paypal account i.e. so that I
can buy things.

    G`day Harvey,

    strike trouble with Paypal and it`s like trying
    to deal with a monster with 7 heads ... each
    doing their own thing and not telling the other
    "heads" ... good luck! :rolleyes:

    I haven`t had this problem before but just
    recently Paypal kindly caused my bank to
    put charges on my account over $200 ...
    relentlessly trying to take $$ out for a
    subscription even after it was paid.

    I didn`t pay the charges ... bank closed the
    account and I cannot ever get an account
    with that bank again

    These darn bugs cost you and I a lot of $$$

    LOL...

    I think you jinxed me
    I had not heard of this issue until I read your thread. Then tried to make a purchase about 5 minutes ago, and it happened to me.

    I got around it this way though, so let me know if this works for you!

    I clicked help, then logged into my account from there.
    Kept the page open on my account, opened a new browser and purchased the product again.

    It let me make the purchase this time.
    Not sure if that was sheer fluke, or if it is an option to use, but let me know if it works for you.

      After having this problem for 5 weeks (up to a few hours ago)
      I've just logged in.

      It's back to normal.

      Maybe the CEO of Paypal is reading this thread ?

      Maybe he's decided to rotate the problem and it's your turn Martin.
