Only 2 Hours per day to make money online

Hi all,

Give it to me straight, is it at all possible to make any real money online when all you have is two hours a day to commit to it?

And I'm talking from a newbie perspective with little or no technical knowledge. I mean is it really possible to start from scratch and make a decent additional income (not just a few dollars here and there, or am I kidding myself.

I've read so many conflicting reports my head is starting to spin.

Thanks

It is, but you will have to work your way up to it.

What I mean is that with only 2 hours a day and a lot to learn you probably won't see more than lunch money for several months.

Yeah, sure, some people come in a make thousands after 3 or 4 months (or so they say) but I think for the average person this is not the case.

BUT, the thing to remember is that all the early work you are doing now with learning the ropes and setting up your sites etc... will have a cumulative effect. What I mean is that once you get a site earning $100, or $1000 or whatever a month it will probably keep earning that with only a minimum of effort leaving you free to go make the next site etc...

When I first started out I had a demanding job so I could only devote about 2 hours a day (plus my whole weekends) to my IM adventure. I think it was probably 2 or 3 months before I even earned a penny - but that first penny changed my life! Now those same early sites from 5 years ago pull in money every month and I barely spend 5 hours a YEAR on them.

Not initially no. At the start you will need to spend time building up your project.

2 hours online disappears in a nano second - if that is not a contradiction in terms.

      Hi Guys,

Many thanks for your thoughts, and it is very useful to hear of other peoples early experiences.

What do you think is one of the most important skills a newbie should learn for IM?

I think it's possible to build up something good in 2 hours per day (that's 14 hours per week, after all), provided it's really two hours per day, every day, every week, and that you spend the time on genuine, action-taking, income-producing work and not just on "browsing and reading".

I think "learning to judge whom to listen to and to trust" is the single most important skill. If you get that one right, everything else becomes much easier. But if you start following well-meant advice randomly, your results from it will be equally random. And in internet marketing, "random" is usually very bad.

Everything comes down to time and money. If you have little money you have to spend more time to get going and if you can afford to spend some money on proper education then you can greatly lower the amount of time required to get going.

From a newbie standpoint, with limited time available to you, I do have a suggestion. I'm sure there will be some that disagree with this but one idea would be to spend some time learning how to install php and cgi scripts. If you can spend several days just working on getting proficient with that one thing you can then hire out your services and a script installer.

This usually should only take about 10 to 20 minutes per job depending on how involved the script is and if it has any addons or plugins that need to be installed as well. If you could do just a few installs a week you could at least start earning something while you are learning how to get your own business up and going.

An added benefit of this is that once you learn how to do script installs it makes setting up your own sites much easier and faster.

As Alexa mentioned, a lot depends on what you do with that two hours per day. If you spend it reading and researching, scanning forums and checking email, broken up with a few rounds of Solitaire or some funny YouTube videos, any money you make will be pure luck.

      Look at it this way...

Two hours of sunshine through a window can warm a room; the same two hours of sunshine focused through a magnifying glass can start a fire that warms the room for a long time.

It's possible to build up to the level where 2 hours it's enough. But for initial start you need to create new sites, think about the concept and learn SEO. So it's hard

    • Hi

There has been a lot of good sensible advice here, I think I would add the following to help you get the most of your limited time:

      a. Create a Plan
      • Understand what you want to achieve (i.e. your goal)
      • Break the goal down into the individual tasks that are required to be carried out.
      • Estimate the time for each task. If any task is over 60 minutes in length, break it into sub tasks.
      • Schedule the individual tasks into the time you have available.
      • Stick to the schedule!
      b. Outsource
As well as getting stuff done that you can't do yourself, outsourcing is a great way to leverage the time you do have.

      c. Use a Strategy That Runs On Virtual Autopilot
When you choose the strategy to follow, make sure you use one that will run on autopilot in the background. In other words you want a system where you put in the effort once, but continual get paid for that effort with little or no input from yourself.

Here's hoping you have all the success you deserve!

      All the very best

      regards
      Andy

These automated sites which sell for around $200, can they really make decent revenue through selling affiliate products or will you likely just find that you aren't making any sales.

I hear that Google doesn't like duplicated content so is advertising your site in specific article directories a good way to give it exposure?

    Hi,

I'm a newbie too and have been researching for two years. 2 hours really isn't enough. I have taken a week off this week to take action and set up my im business. Not having much luck at the moment. When I go back to work next week I will devote 4 hours on a weekday and wake up early and work all day saturday and sunday. As I hate my job, up until last week I applied to other jobs but now I'm going to concentrate on making a success online.

You need to put in more hours, especially on the weekend and see how it goes.

Yes you can. I've done it. More than once.

Day 1 Research niche. Pick niche.

Day 2 Research keywords related to niche. Develop list of keywords.

Day 3 Register domain that has keywords in the name. Find host. Set up wordpress blog through your host's cpanel. No coding knowledge required.

Day 4 Write five 300 word articles each using a variation of your keyword. Put keyword in the title, once in the first paragraph and twice more in the body of the article.

Day 5 Post articles to your blog. Write new intro and conclusion for each article so they reach 400 words each. Link to your domain with keyword phrase as text in the bio box.

Day 6 Post articles to ezinearticles.com and several other article directories. Use a paid article submission service to reach several hundred other article directories.

Day 7 Submit blog to search engines. Put blog in your WF signature using keywords as the text. Research forums to join in your niche. Join forums.

Day 8 Set up a network of free website and blogs (squidoo, blogger, xanga, gather, blinka etc.s) Post the articles and link back to your site. Post relevant useful comments on the forums you've joined.

Day 9 Research affiliate products in your niche. Research books on amazon in your niche that you can sell. Choose affiliate products. Post relevant useful comments on the forums you've joined.

Day 10 apply for google adsense. Write three articles. Post articles to blog. Socially bookmark each article. Submit articles to directories. Post relevant useful comments on the forums you've joined.

Day 11 Find PLR report you can offer as a freebie to get people to join your list. Set up an aweber or getaresponse account. Design web form for people to give you their email addy in exchange for the report. Put form on your website/blog on a separate page. This is called a squeeze page. Post relevant useful comments on the forums you've joined.

Day 12 Write five 250 word articles. Link to your blog or your affiliate link at the end of the articles. Set them up on aweber or getaresponse as messages sent out every 3 days to your subscribers. Post relevant useful comments on the forums you've joined.

Thank you for the timeline. I feel the hardest part as a newbie is creating the schedule to follow. The 2 hours a day end up being spent trying to come up with a plan of action instead of money making activities. The problem is, not knowing too much about the IM field, it is difficult to devise a plan that will be successful and make money. I know there are several well know free courses but I have never heard of anyone actually making money from those. Does any one know of a quality plan that will lead to more success. For now trying Dee's seems as good as any.

        Thanks,
        Sam

    Zoranv,

It's extremely possible! Most methods/systems out there can all be broken down into simple processes....All you have to do is identify the core steps and then devote whatever you can during the 2 hours to the steps.

The nice thing about IM, is that you're not constrained to a specific schedule. You can work it around your schedule.

During those 2 hours, really put the blinders on and do the necessary work....When I was starting out, I only had a few hours to work with and then realized that if I gave up 1-2 hours of sleep, I could double my productivity. Then on the weekends, I got caught up on the sleep and I was golden!

So whenever you can add more to your daily time bank of investing into your IM business, do it!

Absolutely - I started with less than that...the key is what you do with those 2-hours a day. Making sure that there is a well-designed, focused plan of attack and that you are spending your time on the MOST important money-making tasks each day.

Are you talking about what you have to spend is 2 hours? Or are you saying that what you have to invest is 2 hours?

If you are talking about the latter, it is possible. But if you are talking about the former, it is more impossible than building a castle in the air.

And if your head is beginning to spin as you said, please go catch a sleep because you can't make a dime online if you are in a confused state.

Tim Gorman has built up quite a good income (6 figures I believe) writing articles from about 10:00 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day. He's in the military, about to be discharged I believe, and has built his whole business an article at a time after all his military work is done. It's a really inspiring story. I think he'd tell you it's slow, but it does work.

He also has some products out about how to do it. I hear they're top notch.

This thread is worth a million dollars!

The tips and philosophy regarding planning and strategies is priceless. This is what I'm talking about when it comes to people who have achieved success sharing with others. There are billions of people on the web, you sure ain't gonna run out of any customers!

So to add my two cents, the basic formulas and strategies on this thread are what a newbie should follow. Do not hesitate to visit the poster's websites and services too. The early marketer gets the client and with these basic tools and techniques a person can be up and running in a reasonable time. It may take you weeks or months but the more time you spend studying now and understanding the terms the better off you'll be during the application part of the game. Theory and practical.

Now, if you've got other talent you can utilize such as design, writing creatively, etc., that's icing on the cake of the sound advice you see here.

I make money on several fronts. I create content, hook people up with various connections and more. I have additional talents that give me an edge but I'm not too arrogant to think I know it all. Study, re-study, and keep plugging away. You'll build up that first foundation of good passive income and residual passive income and before you know it you'll be operating in the profit range where you can take time off for other pursuits and responsibilities.

Two hours a day seems pretty light for a newbie and I would suggest spend those two hours studying as much as possible from this forum, then go out and get your feet wet.

I could not believe the opportunities that have exploded onto the scene of recent years and I'm here myself to study and apply. I know for a fact that if I keep my eyes straight I will be earning at least six figures a year marketing and enjoying it, I've done it before and can do it again and that was before there was blogging, but, there is that shoulder to the wheel, nose to the grindstone action I need to do now until I have my A game going.

I have sometimes less than 2 hours and sometimes more. I can not even build my business everyday. It al depends on how you spend your money and your time. If you don't have any money to spent probleby you won't make money. It's important that you spent your time and money wise. Don't just buy into everything. Only pay for stuff that helps you get to your goals quicker. Outsource if you have no clue or dedicate time to learn how to do it on your own. Depending on how much you have to invest in money it can take more time to get where you want to be.

A caveat regarding outsourcing to other countries. They don't always have the business ethic necessary to safeguard you from litigation. Make sure you do your homework regarding outsourcing outside of the U.S..

A good step for newbies is to barter for that extra goodie from a seasoned marketer. If you can write creative and effective copy, offer to do some articles for them in exchange for tips or one of their services. You would be surprised how much you can get with barter! Just amazing! I can in the short and long term save you hours and effort and generate passive income earlier and longer.

Wow guys thank you all for your guidance and thoughts on this.

Well I decided that I was definitely going to take action today:

Started learning how to use wordpress
      Researched some keywords
      Purchased a domain and hosting
      Set up my first blog
Set up an adsense account but it's late now so will look at how to get that on my blog (I lack some technical ability so it takes a little bit more thinking about)

Total time invested = 6 hours
      Feeling of Achievement = Priceless

I know the more time I can put in during the early stages the better, so i think 2 hours just won't cut it as I still have a BIG learning curve.

However this thread has already helped a lot.

I think it's definitely possible. But before you work, I'd suggest that you come up with a plan of the day. This will prevent you spending a half hour trying to figure out what you're going to work on.

Also in that time, avoid Facebook, Warrior Forum and any other distractions until you're finished with working...

    Hi Z,

There is enough information out there to make your head spin. I've had to build my business from scratch two different times, while working a full time job and married with 2 kids.

Like some of the others have said, you can certainly do it but it will take some time to build up to it. Some people talk about it taking years to start making decent money to end up in your pocket, but I disagree for the most part. Some industries will take a long time and others can be a quick ticket. No, I don't think there is a ton that you can do to get tons of money very quickly, but I may be able to guide you on a decent path.

I really hate to keep referring to my sig in posts, but I give away a free ebook that may give you some great information on how to get something started for under $16 (costs being domain and hosting only) that can actually be getting hundreds of daily search engine visitors a week from now. You don't need to know how to make your own website, program, etc. Just as long as you can follow some directions, read and write - you'll be able to do it.

    Thanks

    Z:confused:
First, it's "normal" for your head to spin with information. What
your brain is trying to do is filter all of it when it has nothing to
use as reference to filter it -- so it's trying to "soak it all in".

Second, as a newbie with no experience and technological know-
how...it is NOT possible to pull it off on just 2 hours a day in a
    short amount of time.

That privilege is often reserved for people WITH experience &
strong understanding of marketing principles that WORK.

It CAN be done, however, OVER time as a newbie on just 2 hours
    a day.

Very few people get "lucky" and get something that works out
the gate...and those who do often don't know what it was that
caused success in the first place, so when it passes they're left
scratching their heads wondering what happened?

I've learned the reason for this is because not enough mistakes
were made that eventually leads TO success so you could repeat
what works and avoid what did not.

I don't want to give the impression that you should purposely
screw up to learn mistakes, but embrace them for what they
are and treat them as lessons on your journey.

Clearly...It'll take MORE than 2 hours a day for a few weeks to
pull this business off...more like a few months with 2 hours a day.

The more time you can devote, the shorter the learning curve.

Goodluck...I remember vividly being in your shoes so I hope my
own experiences are of use to you.

From my experience, if the whole solid two hours is being used to the max (without drifting into other unproductive work), then it is possible to see results within a few weeks, provided that you're working on a proven business model rather than 'testing/trying things out'

Two hours is fine. I'm impressed with The Keyword Academy - Mark and Court are great at coaching total newbies. My brother is doing OK with their techniques, and with my greater experience I've managed to increase my web income by 41% in one month.

The methods they teach work great with HubPages, and 2 hours a day is good enough time to knock out 2 Hubs. You don't even need to spend much time backlinking them.

Two hours a day is great!... just make sure you really sit for two hours every day... The first weeks you will obviously have to learn a new skill, then apply a strategy, and always continue learning... don't get discouraged if the first thing did not work right... just keep searching for new methods until you find one you feel comfortable in...

Two hours a day is more than enough... just keep at it! Cheers!
