Hi There

I am looking to build a long and succesful business in online marketing, and first and foremost I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty, digging in and doing the work.

I must thank the forum members for providing a great resource for beginners like myself.

My problem is planning and what stype to start in, I am looking for a bit of guidance and advice to point me in the direction to build a long and sustainable online business and network. I am not look for the answers to all internets marketing secrets just looking for for someone who is experienced in internet marketing to provide a helping hand for someone who will put in the work to make my it a success.

I have looked into affiliit online training but I prefer a hands on approach preffereble through skype or msn.

Thanks

There are some excellent mentors, and if you search diligently, you will find one. However, in the interim, the best basic training I've seen is Ed Dale's Challenge. It's free, and studying it will be incredibly rewarding. Check it out at The Challenge

You will be glad you did.

While you are trying to figure out:

      Who to work with...
      What to sell...
      etc etc etc

Start a wordpress blog with YOU as the star..start branding yourself, marketing yourself and building an optin list that recognizes YOU.

That way whenever you figure out what you're going to do...you'll already have a contact list to email and some people to offer your new products or business to.

Take some action and get this going and you'll find it's even easier to attract not only prospects to you, but also a mentor that will be more likely to want to help you further.

    Coxis,

Unfortunately I dont think you are going to find what you are looking for... There are literally thousands of posts like this one on this forum. And most never get the "mentor" they are hoping to find. Here's why...

First off, I dont know you and outside of "general goodwill towards men", dont care about you. Not to be harsh, but that is the way it is with people. I am successful at this business - but I worked my butt off for it for many YEARS to get that way... And I spent a ton of money for skills training that allowed me to utilize my skills and creativity to create an income that supports me and my family and my employees and their families...

I work hard all day. I come here occasionally to "give back" as I have no internet marketing training product that I sell. So, it is just a nice thing for me to be able to see what people are talking about.

But at the end of the day I want to play with my kids, go to the beach with my wife or just chill with a glass of wine.

If someone wanted to be mentored by me, they would either have to pay me enough money to put down my wine or I would have to already know and/or like them...

99.9% of the people who come here asking for a mentor dont fall into those 2 categories... So they dont find a mentor -- because as selfish as it may sound, I think that most people who have worked their butts off and are continueing to do so, are probably just like me.

Again, this is not meant as harsh or to hurt your feelings but to give you a wake up call. Everybody would prefer a hands on approach but most likely you're not gonna get it... Question is, are you still willing to do whatever it takes?

    Hey Dude!

Finding a mentor in this competitive world will be too difficult for you. Here everyone is still a struggler. If he would be as successful like a bill gates then he wouldn't have been in WF. Try starting a blog of yourself and rectify your own mistakes. The more mistakes you do the better you will learn.

Best Wishes for your IM career!!

Good advice on this thread. I would head it, because the only other
option you have for GREAT mentorship is paying for it.

I don't know any mentor worth their salt who will carry you on their
backs, for free (unless you're a special friend, relative, etc).

Be prepared to pay money for the hand-holding you're "kinda sorta"
looking for in the right direction you seek. I took this path myself, so
    that's why I recommend it...

and it's making me a millionaire.

A good mentor is worth MORE than whatever money you pay them
    now.

I believe the real issue here is not whether or not people want to help you. The real issue for experienced internet marketers is establishing realistic service level agreements. Defining this can be difficult, especially online.

Offering "mentoring" seems relatively straight forward, however...there are so many factors to consider. Availability, fees, defining set goals, tasks, timeframes and identifying established goals. The list no doubt goes on.

Then I guess you have to consider risk. Will the mentor be able to provide you with the assistance you need? How long do you require their assistance? What if it doesnt work out? Again, the list goes on.

Sending you a PM and offering my "help" might seem like a no brainer, but sitting down to 25 emails, continual skype messages, and phone messages from someone each day, makes me more hesitant to offer that bit of "help" that you need.

If it was easier than this, It might be different. But unfortunately, internet marketing cant be explained or taught via a 3 line email.

As a suggestion, I would have a think about defining exactly what you need/require and put this down on paper, along with your allocated budget and time frames. Starting with this may increase your chances of landing an experienced marketer from WF.

Best of luck, hope this gives you something to think about.

I disagree. Its been said many a time here on WF, by numerous members, especially newbies "Ive tried system X, Y and Z, and still nothing."

Asking for personal mentoring, I believe is the smartest question a newbie could ask.

The first and best mentor you will ever get is this forum: WF.

Look no further. And hey, you need that red tag: War Room Member. All the mentors you will ever get can't offer you in a lifetime, all the things you can get there.

    You are welcome.

What exactly is a hands-on approach? Some one to do it for you? Or someone to give the shortcut?

I'm with Kevin_Hutto on this one.

I have freely given my time to many over the years, only to see them waste it and do nothing with my help.

My only suggestion is that you start to implement what you learn and prove that you are an action taker.

Off topic: I am am puzzled why so many ask for this kind of help. Perhaps the approach should be...

What can you do to help someone?

Does not seems to me that you're looking for a " Free Lunch" instead for coaching. The good and the bad thing about making money online is how many ways there's to do so.

You need to feel comfortable with one of the business model and run with it. One on one coaching will be very expensive. But if you have the money, by all means GO for it. Before you need to find out which business model you want to follow.

    How you do that?

Assessing your own skill to this point.

What are you bringing to the table?

I'm not in the position to offer you coaching, but i'm in the position to guide with someone that might be.

Based on my own experience , there's just a few that i will recommend.

Yes, for a few i will add my own affiliate links. Because , i try them and they're good. Others . No affiliate links but also believe they're good.

I don't know how you got here, but you're in the right place regardless on some of the comments? you're reading.

I wish i had found this forum long before i did.

If you're very short in fund$, do become a paid member of this forum and really learn how to use it.

WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR OF YOUR MIND TO NEGATIVE THOUGHTS, THE DOOR OF OPPORTUNITY OPENS TO YOU.
It is the nature of opportunity that it simply refuses to attach itself to negative thinkers. Negative minds cannot conceive exciting new business opportunities, invent innovative new products, solve difficult problems, or create beautiful music or works of art. All of these activities require a positive belief in yourself and your abilities. When you approach every challenge with a Positive Mental Attitude, you will always discover opportunities that others have overlooked. Relish your achievements and recall them when the going gets tough. Take comfort in the knowledge that you have succeeded in the past and you can do it again. You can do it if you think you can! "

      Hi coxis

It took me a long time to find the right one!

Why don't you go to a few meetings, look at some videos and look at reviews of people and their products.

The information is all free on the internet ....totally free.

The thing that your looking for is someone you trust and who believes you can do it and who can nurture you skills until you are successful.

Its not the information its the person who delivers it.

      That's what I have found.

I wish you well and good luck with your business.

The mentor I used was great! (see signature)
Interesting as you did the same and the sig leads to an opt-in only.

I don't think someone brand new to working online needs "a mentor". A good mentor will help you advance alone the path you have chosen - but can't choose the path for you.

You may have many mentors along the way as no one is an expert in everything. However, before looking for someone to tell you what to do, learn the basics on your own.

I've seen some amazing (and yes, free) mentoring offered on this forum but that happens when someone is clearly working very hard on their own. They have master the basic steps and have their plan and goals in place.

When you are accomplishing something through your own learning, focus and work....there are many people here willing to help you move ahead.

IM is not a "job" - it's a business. One big step is learning to make decisions for yourself and following a plan you create.

I agree with the advice to go through the 30 day challenge - it gives you a good overview of what's required and leads you through basic knowledge (and it's free).

A while back I stumbled onto who offered video training courses where he showed and explained how he has used the internet to make millions over the last few years. He keeps a low profile and tells it like it is. You really need to understand that there is no short-cut to millions, but there are many tools and techniques that you must understand.
As we started talking, I found that my perspective for marketing online changed dramatically! I went from a "sell attitude" to "how can I help"
