Frustrated Marketer Has Been Struggling For Four Years
Hey guys my name is Joe Richard and am looking for a

little Warrior help. I have been struggling online for about

four years minus one. I had to shut off the internet for a

while. Anyhow right now I just feel like I am suffering

from information overload. I do not have much money to

outsource stuff and for advertising so I am basically doing

everything on my own and that is why I am calling out to

fellow warriors for a little help with focusing if you know

what I mean I have 4 awesome kids work 12 hours a

day with my day job and caring for my lovely wife about

to have our 5th. The projects on my table is updating my

blog, article marketing, creating videos for video

marketing, updating facebook, twitter and you tube,

indexing my site, posting to forums in my niche, on site

and off site seo, would like also to joint venture with

someone as well, I have a small list, and designing my

site ect. Managing my small email list at the moment and

also planning on selling resale right products and short

mid term goal is becoming a super affiliate with a

company that I am passionate about. I am in a Christian

niche and have been having great difficulty balancing all

these things together. So ultimately my question is how

do you focus on the tasks at hand without getting

sidetracked with one thing after another?

My goals, both personal and business, are kept in several Google Documents, both long term and short term. (These are about the only documents which stay in the "All Items" view, everything else is in folders.)

Also, I gather images which represent my goals (even producing "future" income results and bank statements) which I add to a slideshow in my Windows Sidebar. The slideshow usually will include a series of motivational phrases along with the pictures, too. I can open the pictures to a larger size just by clicking on them.

To round off my motivational group I have a series of songs I love to listen to which have great lyrics and energy in a playlist in iTunes. When the energy starts dropping off, I crank up the tunes.

    Hi Joe,

I use simple little task list in my Windows Vista Sidebar, or actually several of them.

I put my "personal projects" in one. My "client projects" in another. One more for "family and fun items".

I think through my plan for the week, put it into the task lists, add due dates, and priorities. Then I just look at the little annoying list on the side of my screen when I lose focus and go back to work.

Okay, let me give you some insight. Some good, some bad lol.

First off, you need to spend capital to gain it. I know it sounds crazy - but even the guy who owns facebook needed start-up cash of atleast $1,000.

Anyway - I like the story of your life.. I mean you can use it to really sell a product. You need to find something your passionate about or, at least, know a lot of information about something you want to sell.

The product that I am wanting to promote is on pre-launch. I maybe could sell a biography as well. I also do believe in using capital to get capital as well. Just need the right person to help me write it and sell it. I do have many interesting tales.

    It sounds like you have a lot on your plate and that there are times (when you wife is delivering for example) when priorities just whip you away from your list of tasks. Could I suggest that you just try and schedule just one hour a day, five days a week to work on your online business. Then for each day of the week schedule one or two specific task areas like updating your blog for the week, or writing your articles for a week or posting on forums for each day. It would look a bit like;

Monday - write blog posts for week and schedule them
Tuesday - write the articles, based on blog posts and upload them to directories
Wednesday - think social networking - forums, twitter and your facebook pages
Thursday - look after your list - create some autoresponder messages, and find information that is useful to them
Friday - work on your new products and possible JV ventures.

By doing this consistently at least until after your new baby is born you will get things done and you will probably feel a lot better about your online business. I realize that with working a 12 hour day and having such an active household carving an hour a day out of the rest of the things you have to do would be difficult; but it will be worth it in the long run.

Will PM you with further details

I would say don't spend too much time on those social media sites, they waste mondo time. Set your blog up to autoupdate your social media 2.0 sites like Twitter and Facebook, make an appearance once in a while to show that you are a real person.

You sound like you have real good knowledge, but your budget is little right now. Write down the money tactics for that day and take the best three and action them. For example, post to EZA and work on making your articles convert higher and the traffic driven to your blog or niche site, maybe just work on monetizing those better. Would be cool if you had your 'own' ebook on there that traffic could browse and purchase if interested. Just a little, you don't need any more info. overload.

Really great stuff and ideas I also believe just to answer my own question is persistence and commitment. We get results when we are persistence. I need to start gearing my goals now towards money everything that I have been doing has been pretty much learning how to use wordpress setting my own seo campaign and have been mostly focusing on building a list. Maybe just setting up a blog for just tasks for the day, week, month, year would be really good. Come to think of it a blog is a perfect platform for this. God Bless Ya'll and please share more how you stay focused and getting your goals accomplished.

Do the little things consistently is my advice.

Most people try and do everything at once and get burned out.

First get your product set and your webpages in order then start posting info about the product and use the great parts of wordpress to automate a lot of the other work.

Start seeing yourself as a machine Joe, and not a human thats capable of being overwhelmed. Thats what its gonna take to get to the next level.

Where you're at now is the level thats gonna make or break you.

This is what the guy trying to sell you a program doesnt tell you about. How they had to do the death crawl for awhile to get there.

Ive already shared this once today, but its worth sharing again:

Good part is, once you have been through this, and have made it to the end zone, its all downhill from there.

I dusted off my Mindjet mind mapping software (I know there are free mind mapping programs out there, but I bought this one a few years back) and started using that to help me get a better picture and stay focused. It's worked wonders.

If I only had a few precious hours a day or a week to work on my internet income, I'd make sure they were productive ones.

Holy crap! You are spread very thin and I think the best advice you could get is to cut down and focus on a couple key aspects of your business instead of trying to fill every possible hole with a peg.

Not only will you get more done this way and improve results ($$) but it will reduce your stress level considerably. You should also streamline your work, meaning do 1 thing that covers multiple areas. For example, you write a blog post which auto updates on your facebook and twitter, turn around and use that to submit to a list of article directories. So by writing one article you knock out 4-5 different To-Dos.

Try to work smarter and not harder.

For example, if I were in your shoes, I'd focus my energies on a select few traffic generation methods with the sole purpose of building my list. Then once I felt the list had was at a good place, I would let it go on autopilot and run off all the work I've done and switch to another aspect of my business such as general traffic generation/monetization for the main site and branding and do a set amount of tasks everyday focused on this one aspect of my business, and so on and so on. But obviously I don't know anything about your site setup or particular business, so these are just general advices.

    Hope that helps.
