Profollow users- Is the Myth True? - (aweber transfered subscribers have to RESUBSCRIBE?)

When you Transfer your subscribers from Aweber to profollow, (profollow is cheaper ), do the subscribers have to Resubscribe, via the optin form again? I heard that, is it true?

(as that would lose alot of subscribers)

yep, thats why you are held hostage by your AR if they have a sucky price structure... Like aweber does for big lists. I had to move from them a year or so ago and lost about 200k subscribers because of it...

That would be surprising, considering that ProFollow is a white label version of Aweber.

This happened to me migrating a list from somewhere else (SBI) to Aweber.

I lost 60% of my list overnight!

But here's the thing - I warned everyone that I was moving over, and that to stay on the list they had to click a Verification link in an email that would be sent to them.
And I warned them multiple times.

Plus I created a new opt-in bonus so there was a clear benefit to the subscribers to look out for the link and re-subscribe.

    And still I lost 60%.

And you know what - given all those facts I'm pleased I lost those folks, because if they couldn't even click on a verification link to get a great sequence of free lessons they are pretty much never going to buy anything.

So look at it as an opportunity to cleanse your list.

    Good luck.

If you switch from aWeber to Profollow your subscribers do NOT have to re-subscribe.

You have to contact aWeber support to do this, but once you do and they throw the switch, the change is immediate and you keep all your subscribers.

You know, back in January 2000 I went to a very expensive Jay Abraham seminar. It cost $5,000.00 to get in.

I had never been to a seminar before, and there was no way I would pay $5,000.00 to go to one, but for some reason Paul Myers invited me to come on a comp basis as a "site reviewer" (Paul was handling lots of the logistics and other stuff at the event.)

In any case, it was the first morning of the event and I was feeling a bit dumbstruck. I was getting into the elevator to go down to the conference. The elevator door opens, and standing in front of me was Ken Evoy (I could tell because he had his name tag on).

Ken was my marketing hero/guru. I had been staying up late at nights studying his material. And here he was standing in front of me. I couldn't believe it.

But I figured that instead of staring at him, I would introduce myself. So I stuck out my hand and said hi (not really an easy thing for me, since I'm a natural introvert.)

Turns out Ken is a super-nice guy. By the end of the event I was sitting next to him during the sessions, and I had gone out to lunch with him (hint: always easier to go out to lunch with your mentors if you offer to buy lunch).

That was when I realized that "gurus" are just regular people. And most of them tend to be pretty darn approachable. And they have all the same hopes/dreams/challenges that every other human has. Sure, they might have more business experience than you do... and they might have more assets than you do... but they're just people.

So I really appreciate that it's an honor for me to stop by... I'm just cruising through the forum taking a look around while I'm brewing my morning tea and getting ready to take the dog out for a walk...

I'm in the process of "combining lists" moving a large (to me) subscriber list over to my aweber account. I admit that I might loose a large portion of that list.
That's okay... the subscribes that were responsive and actually "open and read" emails are hitting the confirm link.

    It's a pain - but them's the rules.

A previous mentor of mine transferred his list of around
23k subscribers over from one provider to AWeber years
      ago.

Despite having a month long campaign and incentive to
get people to move over, he still lost just under two-thirds
of his list and ended up with around 9k subscribers.

However, the most interesting thing is that his product
      sales remained almost unaffected afterwards.

      Why?

Only his most qualified customers and subscribers were
sufficiently motivated to move over to his AWeber list.

By changing autoresponder providers, he pruned his lists
and effectively removed the wheat from the chaff.

It's always very painful to move lists, and if you have to reconfirm you'll always lose lots of subscribers.

But I think this example is what most people will experience - you lose lots of subscribers, but you don't lose a lot of results.

Thats really cool that pro-follow does that.

I know when I switched to Aweber I lost half my list. I was forced to switch b/c my autoresponder was part of my hosting package and the company closed, lol. My list is still smaller than it was before the swap, months later. But if they couldn't reconfirm how can I expect them to buy? right?

Moving lists around to different Autoresponders I find is the best way to clean and unclutter the action takers or buyers from the tire kickers as Shaun and Paul have stated.

I remember a JV I was working with awhile back in 2009 (was my first JV ever) and this guy had a list of about 100,000+ all in the health and wellness niche. He wanted to move his list from aweber to icontact and I gave him a hand with it. He offered free course, free coaching, 2 months free access to his premium membership and a few other bonuses here and there. Trying to stack the deck, he lost 45% of his list the transfer. Big deal I though and so did he, but just like shaun said the profit was unaffected it actually began to increase because he was able to focus more on that group and get accurate results from surveys etc. to create future products.

So losing some of you list is not always a bad thing, because if people cannot be bothered to click a link do you think they will be bored to open an email and buy a product?

It's the old 80/20 rule at work...

Less than 20% of your list are probably really engaged
in your messages and marketing and even less of them
      are buyers.

They're the one's who are sufficiently motivated to
follow you wherever you go - and bring their money
      with them.

The money is in the behavior of your list.

I know that sometimes I move my lists around
and my clients lists for that very reason.
To cull out the tire kickers and keep a group
    of action takers!

Just wanted to give a quick update on this one. I just got off the phone with customer support at ProFollow and they told me that its very easy to move from ProFollow to Aweber and vice versa.

There is NO NEED for your users to opt-in again.

I just got it direct from the horses mouth and figured I would pass it on.

So I am signing up with ProFollow now and if I need more of the analytics in the future I know I have that option.

    Hope that helps, Richard
