We built our own custom system, mainly out of a need to customize it to fit our needs. While we always go through some "growing pains" from time to time, overall we are much more organized it our work flow.

OSTicket works well for us.

It was easy to install.

There's a good support forum.

We could modify it if we needed to, although that hasn't proved necessary yet.

Oh, and it's free.

for those of you who have MULTIPLE NICHES...do you still use the same website (using kayako or any other software) to be your centralized support domain?

if so, dont users see different niche FAQ's there? i just want to separate everything...kayako seems to be the winner so far though...

I use 1 central support desk. However, VisionWorld let's you setup 'desks' in separate niche sites that all feed into 1 central manager site. That means all support staff login to one site....but customer tickets are coming from everywhere. It also integrates with wordpress so users don't have to reenter their name/email. Really nice solution.
