Just me or are the big gurus now desparate?

I am in the IM game as well and I know how it works. I really don't buy hardly any products anymore. I can live without all the launches and hype. However, I liked to stay on the big guru mailing lists because I liked to see how they promoted not what they promoted. Usually they have their own products and a launch cycle. I learn a lot. Recenlty though I have been getting junk click bank rehashed links thrown at me. I mean real bad PLR type stuff. What is going on with these gurus? I have sent them replies to stop (I know it get filtered), but they keep coming. Now I am just opting out of their lists.
Anyone else notice this trend? There are now a small handful I do trust. Too bad because when I started I got value out of some of the guru materials I bought. Not sure why they slumming nowadays....

going offline but buying online leads was the best thing I ever did.

generating ( buying) leads on line but selling offline and building offline networks works for me.

    I wouldn't touch IM ever.

The issue might be that there are so many people giving advice but who have no right giving it , they just dish out common sense ( or so it seems).

For example I will not ppost more tan 12 posts in a year here, just dreaming up stuff to post about is nonproductive.

      Good points.

I too generate most of my business offline in direct mail
      and it's freakin' awesome!

The market is much bigger than online to tap into, and
it gives me more freedom to do other things I love doing
for myself, family, and friends that doesn't involve a PC
      under my nose.

As far as guru's being desperate...first of all, why do YOU
      care?

Does it make you feel better that they might be?

Or would people like you cease putting up threads that
talk about someone else's "perceived" misfortune?

In my eyes, when you say "gurus" I think "very successful
people", so in reality you're really saying:

Is it just me, or are the VERY successful marketers desperate?

Which is...rather you realize it or not...is jealousy.

Focus on being your own success story and forget about
what you think is someones misfortune...because I promise
you they are doing VERY well.

Umm Benjamin, I think you missed my point. I have gotten good stuff in the past from the big name gurus. Now however, more are shilling low cost Click Bank products. I am not sure why they are doing this and lowering their own value and brand. If that comment makes me sound jealous I guess we have different definitions.

I can agree with you completely.

I've been around the IM game for over 15 years. I had to take a break for about 2 years and just recently got back into the game this past summer.

I started out by writing my own ebook on a new local city blog that I had some great success with. I then went to register it on clickbank and started contacting some IMs to see about some JV promotions.

I either received no response at all or very rude responses. In the end, I think only one person actually looked at my book.

Needless to say, I decided to ditch the idea on selling the book and I just started giving it away because I know it's a real product with great information.

My point is, while I was initially trying to sell the ebook I would get great sales with email pitches that were VERY hype filled - almost to the point where I was uncomfortable with it. The only reason I sent those emails is because I still told the truth about my product, but I emphasized specific points of it while being very vague about what the product actually was.

After a few of those emails and a couple of complaints that my book wasn't going to be relevant to what a customer wanted to do, I started sending some emails that completely explained the program and what it can do. Big surprise here - those emails didn't generate a single sale.

I think the gurus are realizing that most people know what an advertisement is and are not easily suckered into something, so they come up with some creative/devious ways to change up the game. ClickBank products are also being released with many more affiliate information pages than they used to, so a lot of marketers will simply copy and paste these sales emails. I've literally received the exact same email from nearly a dozen different marketers on the same day before.

To a certain extent, once people get a large list they stop caring about the people that unsubscribe because they have ways to replace those people. It is all about email frequency for many list marketers.

Personally, I don't like the direction that internet marketing has taken while I was away, but there isn't much I can do about it except conduct my own business in my own way that will make me stand out from the crowd.

Can you unsubscribe from these lists is my questions. When I get a duplicate email from two Gig Gurus, I unsubscribe instantly. Now when I see the same OTO that I purchased 6 months ago on a Guru's email. I unsubscribe, but try to get off that list, you will still get emails, over and over.

Most of the big name gurus are into "software" now. They consider that a cross between selling IM'rs the "shovels" to operate their IM businesses (which used to be in the form of ebooks) and the membership model where, once you buy in to their shovels, you are now tied into their propeirtary systems located only on their server. Quite clever, actually....

Within the last week I got 2 large letter promotions from Frank Kern (or one of his affiliates) with an actual dollar bill stapled to it. I happily put the dollars into my wallet and checked out his site he was promoting. It was a simple webpage asking for $97. I have heard about the dollar bill gimmick but have never before gotten one. I feel so special now...

It seems like they were always promoting rehashed crap - the IM industry is just growing up and getting wiser to it.

The make money market was around long before the internet. Nothing much has changed and nothing much will, other than the methods themselves. The make money market relies on a constantly renewable customer base. With each customer that drops out, another one comes in.

Not everyone is a sceptic, not everyone is educated or even familiar with these kinds of markets. Until that changes, these people will always be the target market. It hasn't changed in many years and I doubt it will any time soon.

I have gotten some emails from the gurus promoting the same new hyped up product. When i check for that product on here i find it is generally regarded to be rubbish. I've noticed the trend too Rashamba. It aint good.
