Hi, I have been contacted by another webmaster who would like to publish his e-magazine on my site, its niche related and seems a good quality publication, which may add some good quality content to my site. However, I believe there's never a 'free lunch' obviously he gains publicity for his site, which is fine, but are there any risks involved for me (there's no cost) or am I being too cynical?

    Actually...

    YOU ARE THE SCAM

You are scamming yourself out of FREE content.

    Quit that. Trust in good...

If you decide you don't like it later ...you can always remove it.

    Simple. Easy. Go for it.

P.S. Sorry for calling you a "scam." I understand you're concerned.

But ...you were throwing the word around first! (Definitely cynical :-)

Just because there are so many scams online does not mean that you should automatically assume that it is. I get a lot of emails from people I don't know about doing ad swaps on my blogs and if their site is similar to mine then I do it. This is a simliar type of situation and it could extend into a network contact situation that you could benefit from in the long term too.

    All the best

To add something, I think the OP is mostly worried about the reputation of the other guy. Clearly you can't control that. Period. Try not to tie your legs together over it.

If you've seen the e-magazine, reviewed it and its good, then it seems a good idea to go for it. You would both benefit, you get more content, and he gets more readers

Its always a good idea to build partnerships with webmasters related to your niche. You have to be involved to become involved.

Ultimately, you have to be the judge of this. Use that grey matter between your ears and read his blog posts and visit his website(s). Surely it can't be that hard to figure out if this guy is a scammer? Try not to whine and request to be spoon-fed, but instead do some earnest due diligence on your own for a change!

      Due diligence, a novel concept...

My ole pappy always recommended that if you wanted to know the truth of the matter, follow the money...

Obviously, there is a reason he came to you...

Maybe he doesn't think he can afford web hosting, and he thinks you will give him access to additional readers...

If you can discern his real reasons and truest expectations, then you will be able to make a wiser decision...

It's a good thing that you have been asked this "favour" as some have said above really it's another way for the ezine to reach more people in their niche and also a good thing for your own readers and your own work flow to ix it up a little...

Don't worry they are not going to steal your readers just give then something extra for visiting you site.

Well done for having a website that someone wants to link to and add content... Shows your moving in the right direction

    Hi,

I doubt it is a scam there is no cost to you and it gives you added exposure especially if you could swing an ad within the publication in return for the exposure of his magazine

Whatever you choose to do I don't think for a second it is a scam.
