Is Copyscape Snoozing on the Job???

if you're using copyscape...
I'm wondering if copyscape is working as well as advertised... or whether it is just temporarily snoozing on the job.
Here's what happened:
I needed to find out which of a huge number of blog posts by one of my clients was already posted at Ezinearticles (same author) so I could post the rest of them.
And since I really dislike it when I work on posting an article only to have EZA "yell" at me for trying to post a duplicate that's already there (the titles are a bit different, and the intros often are too).
So I thought I'd run them through copyscape -- surely EZA would show up if they were already posted there, right? And a couple of the articles did.
And then I tried to post another article and... eeeek! Another duplicate!
I double-checked with copyscape -- no sign of that article anywhere.
What the heck???
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Is copyscape not as reliable as we would like to think?
