Hello,

I was told that solo ads are really affordable. But what is a solo ad and what do they eat for breakfast?

This is when a newsletter will send a special mailing for a specific advertiser, where the advertisement is the only thing in the mailing...

Its when you pay someone to mail out to their email list. This is a great way to get traffic because it is highly targetged and the subscribers will usually trust the person to recommend good stufff.Go to jv section and you can getg some good solo ads.

For breakfast, solo ad receivers would usually eat Free ebook reports.

I guess the download page would be the bowl

Solo ads are single-shot ads. Let's back up a little.

Ads are paid for in various ways. You may pay for an ad each time it is seen (CPM), each time it is clicked (CPC), or each time you get a lead (CPA), or each time you get a sale (commission).

A solo ad, on the other hand, is sent out to a number of people who may or may not see it. You pay the same whether anything happens or not.

It's all about risk. Higher risk, lower price. Or, on the other hand, division of labour: the more of the sales work you do, the less you pay to your advertising provider. If you want to do no work at all, solicit affiliates who will do all the work for you, but you'll have to pay over 50% commission. If you want to pay a couple hundred bucks for a few thousand in sales, then well-placed solo ads can do that, but you have to do all the sales work.

Bill, I believe Mivka is making an obscure joke related to the orange-flavoured beverage Solo from Northern Europe.

So I'd have to say they probably eat salmiakki.

What you were told is true if the following statement is true: "the cars are really affordable"

I don't know what do you think about the cars, but my opinion is that there are second hand very cheap cars, low price cars, medium price cars, expensive cars, very expensive luxury cars, etc.

The same is valid for the solo ads. No, solo ads are not really affordable. There are different prices for different conditions and different sellers. It depends on what you need and what you can afford to buy.

Finally, let me give you a piece of advice almost no one likes: advertising is a risky business. If the advertiser doesn't know very well what he does, no matter how good is the service the advertiser buys ... there are big chances to fail. What exactly this means? Well ... The better the service the newbie advertiser purchased, the more money he loses. What's the point? If today you don't know what a solo ad is, don't jump tomorrow on a classy expensive solo ad recommended by all the gurus  around you. [This looks like a negative paragraph, but it's not. It's just a warning from the real world. Don't like it? Please pretend it doesn't exist for you.]

I agree with Adrian. Make sure that you have your products, systems and processes sorted before you spend money on advertising and buying solo ads.

Another point. Not all lists are equal. The open rate and response rate vary drastically based on who you buy from and the relationship that they have with their lists. I have a separate mail account that I sign up to lists and 90% of the time I don't open all these email blasts. There are a handful of people whose mails I read and click through to the ad offers.
