Question about selling ebooks, print books

This is a link to a childrens' book I did last year. I work for the foremost adult stem cell research and treatment website. The director created the first corporate adult stem cell treatment center for cardiovascular disease and I asked him if we could do a children's book to show people what adult stem cells are all about.

We put it up on CreateSpace and I'm working on the ebook version. The topic of stem cells is super hot and I set up the blogs our director and our PR man do. We've even been invited to the White House a couple of times to discuss the new technologies. Mind you there are embryonic stem cells which we don't use but instead use one's own adult stem cells. It's literally the breakthrough in medicine humanity has dreamed about since the dawn of time.

So the question is, this children's book is a product. Now in print but we want to do an ebook version. We'll add video from our director and our doctors and patients with hyperlinks to other data.

Would the print and/or ebook version be of interest to IMs who want to beef up blogs and just sell a topical product? What would be the best format for us to set it up to make it interesting for IMs to sell?

Probably as a .pdf and have it in the Clickbank marketplace with a commission level - that's the usual IM-friendly way.

I think there are IMers that look in just about every niche. If you want them to market your book for you Clickbank is probably the best option. If you sell it as an ebook for the Amazon Kindle there are plenty of IMers pushing Amazon products. Barnes and noble just opened up publishing to the masses for their ereader too. I have had a lot of success with the Kindle and just started with Barnes and Noble. I have sold books for several titles with Barnes and Noble already, so it looks pretty good.

Wow! Big time help and thanks!

It's funny but we just got a big thank you from a patient who not only read the book but bought a bunch for other patients and the doctors at the hospital. We donate all proceeds to people who need the treatments so this will be a big help.

You guys wouldn't believe what treatments are available and forthcoming from this new technology. It's like something out of Star Trek.

Yes, .pdf is the format of choice and it's already to go just need to embed some videos and hyperlinks. I'll bounce over to clickbank and Amazon and see what the procedures are. Since we have numerous articles on our blogs and a few news story coverages of the book and many tv news segments spotlighting our companies there's enough for marketers to use to push the products.

I suggest checking out our main website at Repair Stem Cells | Stem Cell Treatment | Stem Cell News | Repair Stem Cells.org to see what's going on in the industry. You'll be amazed!

Okay so I'm on my way to start applying more techniques and programs and of course creating quality content for IMers to sell. I've done alot of studying here on WF and contacted friends of mine who are professionals in fields where their content might be of interest to sell by IMers.

I'm not talking any fly by night writers, artists, photographers either. Some are NY Times best selling authors. They could cover all sorts of niches with superbly written ebooks. My question is in regard to what I've read here from IMers about having quality content to sell. You would be surprised how many of these top folks don't know the value of marketing on the web. They have so many tips that people would kill for that ebook formats that IMers could sell would blow your minds.

So again the question is, how valuable is quality content to an IMer? Is it the primary thing you're looking for?

I do some affiliate marketing, but I am not an expert in that field. I have been selling books for the Kindle for some time though and sell thousands of books every month.

When marketing a product I try to put myself in the customers shoes. So if I was looking for information on stem cells, where would I look, and what types of products would I pay for? Which type of marketing is going to make your product more credible?

One thing that I have found is that I sell more books when the ebook that I am selling is also for sale at Amazon in print format. Strangely, I don't sell more paperbacks, but my ebook sales go up. I think that it is a credibility factor.

Back to your question about the quality of content. I think that quality is very important but there are a variety of other factors too. I would say that the books cover is very important, the content on Amazon or Nook that describes your product is equally important in getting the sale.

The quality of the content doesn't play a role until after the book is bought. If the book has very little quality it causes two problems. First, all of your sales turn into refunds. Second, those customers leave you bad reviews which nullify future sales.

    Thanks iMon, I agree 100%.

What I'm moving towards are ebooks that supply valuable data that people can't get elsewhere. From travel information to tutorials from professionals. A popular author with tips on writing or getting published etc. will draw some attention. Same with recreational niches. Expert tips on fishing and supplies, skiing, and more.

There are lots of possibilities but I'm most concerned now with what marketers are looking to sell. To make the products IM friendly. Thanks again.

I know you mentioned about trying to figure out what format for this product would be best for affiliates, but don't forget about releasing this in the Kindle electronic format as well. This seems like a very popular general interest topic at the moment, and I feel that having it available in the Kindle format will give it a lot of free exposure in the Kindle store. The Kindle store has become pretty ubiquitous and the ebooks purchased there can be read on many portable devices like the iPhone and Android phones, and not just the Kindle, so you could pick up a lot of sales through this avenue alone.

Wow! Thanks Paulie888! I appreciate you're stopping by to add your advice. Makes me feel like I'm on the right track!

Yes, Kindle is important and not forgotten. My head's swimming with ideas and also contacting my colleagues in the publishing/media/art world. They know their fans will buy whatever they put out, however, making those products IM friendly is also what I'm pushing them to take to mind.

Since some pals are musicians and would have embedded video examples I have to take that into consideration too. Fans getting that exclusive clip only via an ebook should be an extra push but is it IM friendly? Same with the artwork. I can have pals do exclusive sketches, artwork, and fans would go for that, but is it IM friendly?

Since I'm still learning the ropes around here I want to make sure the products are what pros want to market.
