Is there a Quicker way to do what I am doing? Using OpenOffice Or Something else?

Hey There-
I'm taking apart a PLR product and copy and pasting it into a presentation slideshow so only a sentence or paragraph shows at a time on my slide so I can read it onto a video.

So what i'm doing is taking this 30,000 word document and copy and pasting sentence by sentence from the word document onto my slideshow presentation in openoffice. I feel there should be a quicker way to do this. Anyone know of any import options from the writer program in openoffice to the presentation application?

Or should I know of something else or any other tips?

Thank You for any suggestions or thoughts.

Michael

Uh - You want to make a 30,000 word slideshow? Am I reading that right? Because nobody in the world is going to sit through that.

lol yeah its a product im working on. I've got it put together and it really isn't that long. The Video is about an hour in length split up into sections.

    Hi Michael,

As far as I know, slideshow presentations have to be short and to the point. If it's too long, nobody will sit through the whole presentation.

I think it'll be best for you to take the gist of your document, summarize in point forms and put that into your slideshow instead.

    Just my 2c..

The most effective slideshow presentations I've seen list only key points which are short and concise, so you might want to think of summarizing and paraphrasing that lengthy document so that only the gist of it is in the slides. Presentation slides were never meant to be a lengthy and wordy copy-and-paste job from an ebook/document! Your presentation will lose effectiveness if it starts to read like a novel.

Hmmm well I guess it is less a presentation but i'm using an application called presentation in openoffice. I was given some advice recently to take a PLR Ebook and turn it into a video and resell it. So this is my attempt at my first product.

There's one of the 'F' keys that will place each sentence as a title on your slides all at once with just a click.

I took some notes on this awhile back and I am just going to paste them in here... hopefully they make sense to you and you can decipher them as I myself am not exactly sure anymore to be able to clean them up for you. but here they are.

    PowerPoint an Article
Copy and paste each chapter into a text file
Import text file into edit plus
Multiple line search and replace the “period. ” With a hard return
In word document to go find and replace. Find what .space replace with .^p
Puts each sentence on its own line so when you go into PP it will put each sentence on its own slide
Put title at the bottom so you know when you are finished
Save as plain text document. Save as other formats
    Import into PP
    Open PP – all files
In PP outline – open text file
Cntrl A - Right click – layout – title slide so words fit on slide

Thank You for your tips. Unfortunately I don't understand as that looks like it is for powerpoint and I think OpenOffice is a bit different.

I know I will figure this out sooner or later. Im determined to find ways to work faster. I have found a site called Video Article Robot that does a good job. Im just not ready to invest in that on a monthly basis.

I don't think it matters that you are using open office. Open office slide show should allow you to import a text document in it.

The first part of the instructions is telling you how to clean up your document and get each sentence onto its own line and then just importing the text file into the slide presentation.

That should work for openoffice as well as PP

Try pasting a few lines into a text file (each line seperate) and then see if open office slideshow will allow you to import it.
