I'm in talks with a company that wants to sell me a pre-made website -- they say it needs to have "windows hosting." What's that (as opposed to "regular" hosting)?

Please advise.

Thanks!

You need a host that runs Windows 2003/2008 instead of Linux. This type of hosting tends to be pricier since Windows isn't free like Linux.

What types of files are they serving? Coldfusion, ASP?

It also tends to be more expensive as the lower level of security costs you downtime and lost sales when people hack your sites.

People will surely yell at me for this one, but it's been my experience with Windows Vs Linux hostig again and again. (Even got some supposed Islamic Radical group claiming our homepage once... good thing they didn't manage to alter the DB, just the home page)...

Heck, one thing people HATE about the security of UNIX sites is the FRONT PAGE EXTENSIONS!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and UNIX/LINUX is MADE for remote administration, windows ISN'T! AND, of course, Linux is cell/text based as opposed to windows graphics based.

So that means that LINUX can be easier, faster, more secure to work with. Heck, I had to work with a windows web server about 6 or 7 years ago, I guess about a year before plesk announced what I think was the first windows control panel for windows. It was NASTY, having to use the terminal server, etc... ESPECIALLY since, at least then, each system could have only one such instance.
