Please...Don't DO THAT!

Well,

This is not mainly about the money.

At the end, $97 isn't that much to struggle for.

It was a stupid mistake from my side not to cancel the $97/month subscription, I just got busy and forgot about it.

Until I received a notification from PayPal that I have been charged for it.

I canceled the subscription, and politely contacted the site helpdesk , told them it was a mistake, and I am not interested in the membership, asked for a refund.

Their reply was really pathetic...

They mentioned their "non-refund" policy, and that I have access for another month!

What is ironic is, they are selling private label right products, and my license to use these plr ceased the moment I canceled my subscription, I have to be an active member to be able to use their products.

Lessons from the story:

1 - Don't Get Excited about "free month" subscription offers, and don't sign up unless you're really interested in the membership and willing to continue paying for it.

2- Don't leave holes in your PayPal account or on your Credit Card.

3- And finally, if you're selling any kind of subscription, PLEASE RESPECT THE REFUND REQUESTS...especially from someone you can easily confirm that he/she didn't download the product and clearly not trying to scam you.

Don't keep others money unless they paid it intentionally and they are clearly interested in what you offer.

I will never understand why anyone has these policies.

I think that is how most of these sites make there money, by hoping that people won't cancel on time.

I hope you are able to cancel this through Paypal. I've had success in canceling subscriptions this way in the past.

I agree with you that you need to keep track of what you're signing up for. $97/month isn't small potatoes. They should allow you to have another full month of rights to their material if they're going to keep your money.

    Oh well . . .

why don't you guys use prepaid cards?

There are many services in India that let you create temporary cards for limited validity and limit.

I always fill trials using that and even shop online using them. Life is much better because of that.

    Btw
the service is known as Netsafe verified by Visa. I am sure it must be available in other countries as well.,.

If you use paypal you can cancel the subscription immediately after doing the free trial. This way you won't need to worry about forgetting about it.

Yes, I will not do that because respecting refunds show that you are a man of his words. An honorable man is always honorable even if it means to lose the whole world and gain his integrity.

It's not always about money; good name is better than riches.

I think there is another issue here.

The OP knew he signed up for a free trial and also knew the monthly payment would kick in if he didn't cancel.

It was a stupid mistake from my side not to cancel the $97/month subscription, I just got busy and forgot about it.
From what I can tell nothing was hidden.

We can argue day and night about whether the op should be refunded but he knew everything going and simply forget to cancel.

Understandable, we all get busy but that's not the vendors fault. They fulfilled their end of the bargain.

EDIT: Yes the op should get another month of access.

That is so true, when you sign up for a free trial offer, be sure to read the fine lines in between, it clearly defines when the money will be taken out when the trial period ends, what happens myself as well get busy and forget about whats at stake, and we have ourselves to blame for it. I do agree though, if you are held accountable for another month, you should have rights to all of it.
