Clickbank VS commission junction

At the moment I use clickbank and got my first sale 3 weeks ago and since then am up to $120 so am really happy. Recently I looked to see when I would get my check and it was 6 weeks later minus 10% and I needed 5 different sales first. - In other words I was a bit annoyed with Clickbank.

Then I saw CJ and was wondering would it be worth me signing up?

Leave a comment saying which one you prefer Clickbank or CJ?

Thanks.

I use Clickbank and I think I will continue to use it though some folks say that it sucks. But one thing is that it seems as if almost everything sucks these days.

I don't know much about Commission junction.

I prefer Clickbank over Commission Junction by a wide margin. I find that many of the commissions are higher and I have never had a problem with a payout, ever. I've always been paid on time. I find that most (not all) of the commission percentages on CJ are much lower as well. One benefit that many CJ products have is they have name recognition which makes them easier to market in my opinion. I had a few issues a couple years back concerning a payment with CJ and it scared me away, although it's possible it was just an isolated incident.

  • I am definitely interested to know as well. I am actually in the application process for CB. Never used clickbank myself. I have used commission junction as an affiliate. Any insight would be awesome.

    Hey tom!

It really depends on which niche are you most comfortable operating on. There are niches that work pretty well with CB and almost never works with CJ.

If you are looking to promote physical products, then CJ is the way to go. Amazon is something you might want to check into as well.

If you are looking to go for obscure niches -- mainly information based, then CB is the best in my opinion. Some people would say paydotcom but personally, I am a bit exasperated with the way they operate.

Just go in there, burn the bridges behind you, and see which one works better for you.

    Hope this helps,

    -Yan Kirby

Yes, they are so different you almost can't compare them

CJ = mostly physical products, or real world seminars, events, and services. Comission is 3-25% on average

Clickbank = 99% digital download goods - eBooks, software, audio, and video products. Comission usually 50-75%

Very different systems and depends how you work and what you want to promote..

Hmm...CJ is more for Physical products and clickbank for digital products. You can make a comparation between CJ and Amazon ,they are more related to the same topic.

For me, Clickbank remains the best solution for digital products!

Another difference between the two is

CJ offer click-thru traffic report for all expired/dead merchant's links with refer URLs. This is very helpful to remove links from your sites if you promote many offers.

CB, chances are two many dead links accumulated soon and there is no way to clear them up unless CB is willing to offer similar report feature for affiliates.

CJ is more for ecommerce type business models - where as CB is purely info products, so the real question is which direction do you want to take your business?

If you were running Clickbank, Tom, what would you do instead of retaining 10% of the commissions temporarily as a cushion against future refunds, to guard against all those expensive situations in which people open affiliate accounts, make some sales and get paid, and then their customers mysteriously start asking for refunds?

Interesting idea of "stealing", you have ...

I find CB easier to use and I don't worry about the delayed payout. If you keep working at it your pay will increase and you will receive your checks more frequently.

It is a good idea to use both to increase your overall product offering.

CB and CJ are very different. Clickbank is only digital products whereas Commission Junction is physical products. The quality of products as well is on extremes. Almost anyone can put up his/her product in the clickbank marketplace for a petty price while CJ charges big bucks for the same.

The biggest brands are listed on CJ and the commissions are low because they sell physical products and those products involve a lot of charges such as manufacture, maintenance, inventory, delivery and others. Hence, all these expenses are recuperated in the selling price and the profit for the seller is a minor percentage of the selling price. And the money allotted to the affiliates as well is a fraction of the profit. This is not the case with digital products. There are hardly any other charges involved in selling them except the application fee.

Coming to payouts, CJ does not have a great reputation in this matter. Many affiliates have reported in the past that they weren't paid and when they contacted CJ, they did not get any proper response. Those individuals lost thousands of dollars as a result of that. On the other hand, CB has never wavered when it comes to payouts. Always on time and has much more options for withdrawal than CJ.

Definitely sign up with CJ! Of course CJ is a totally different type of network. With different types of offers. Mostly pay per lead and cost per sale stuff.

There is no long wait if you are new. You get paid every month when you have at least 50 dollars in your account.

Alexa, I agree with you, but being new to clickbank as a vendor in application have a question - the 10% you mention are a percentage withheld temporarily on the affiliates side only, right? or also affects vendors?

Vendors also, Michael ... because of the refund position, they hold a "returns allowance".

      All explained here.

It's normally 10%, and it comes back to you after 12 weeks.

      I get mixed with both.

But it seems CB has been winning the race lately for me.

But it does come down to 7 things.

      1) Your subscriber

      2) The copy on the sales page.

      3) offers

      4) Product

      5) The Niche

      6) Guarentees

      7) Price

i guess there are some more. But those are the big things I look for.

I have one site where I promote products from a vendor on CJ and they do pretty well. But the market for this site sees them (physical products and the vendor) as quite reputable. I have only been able to find one product on CB that I can promote on this site s far and I get a sale maybe one every 5 or 6 weeks or so. Not great.

Both are good networks and specializes in different offers. CB is generally oriented for digital goods such as eBooks, software, audio, and video products. CJ offers cpa and has numerous physical products. You just gotta learn how to be a good affiliate marketer

One of the main difference between the two:

CJ help you get rid of all expired merchants links through their expired link traffic report showing all referral URLs from your sites.

Clickbank just do the work on seller launch and there is no system to notify affiliates for any of their affiliate links deactivated.
After a while, you sites or blogs will be full of expired affiliate links annoying your visitors and you are losing money on traffic.

Clickbank let affiliates set up affiliate links and promote easily but do nothing to help affiliates clean up the affiliate links after sellers or products were gone.
