Calling it a "Book" instead of "Report" even if only 30 pages?

I'm curious about what you..should you still tell your prospects you're selling a book even though it is like around 30 pages, instead of a report?

Book has a higher perceived value than a report, and so will convert better on the sales page, but does it really matter by the size?

Why not take a different approach, you can call it a book and make it very valuable. Market it on the pretense that it is just pure facts without all the filler fluff added in to make you feel like you got a good deal.

When people get killer info then they dont generally mind if it comes in a small package. In fact it even saves them time.

    Hope that helps

I've seen plenty of 30 page info products called books - even some shorter.

I think what is most important is the information it holds, right? If it's 30 pages of great stuff that will benefit the buyers then who cares how long it is?

Of course, if you really think that size matters that much, you could always make it longer by adding some pictures, making the font larger and setting the paragraph spacing to 1.5 ... if you have not already done that.

Only you can be the judge of that, I personally wouldn't do it as I believe it would be misleading.

I wouldn't like to buy a book, and find it to be only 30 pages long.

I don't know the minimum number of pages required, to qualify to become a book.

But 30 pages seems too few.

    Just my opinion.

    There you go...

Book Production: UNESCO Institute for Statistics (3.14)

Book: Non-periodic printed publication of at least 49 pages exclusive of the cover pages, published in the country and made available to the public.
By that definition - it's also PRINTED, so you can't call it a book

Here's an idea, spun off from Paul B's notion of it being a quick read...

Call it a "digest" - all the important stuff with the filler stripped away.

        I LIKE THAT John!

The word 'System' has worked well for me
in the past, regardless of the length.

You can call it either. My daughter has printed books that have 8 pages.

In this case where you can use one option or another, the answer is to split test it. For half the people, it's a book and for the other half it's a report.

If you want to know the real answer ask the prospect. split test it.

Google adwords can be used for split testing if you're using adwords. If not, there's lots of cheap split testing tools available out there.

There are a lot of things you could call it. Guide, manual, whitepaper, cliff notes, so forth.
Look in a thesaurus if you want to use some other word. But i wouldnt get hung up on the length.

If it applies to what you're writing, I think calling it a 'Manual' would be a good idea. I don't think people would want a manual to be too long. Just short and to the point.
