How do I get rid of the "WTF H4X3D!?" trojan horse?

Hi guys,I downloaded a file online and by the time I opened it (which was actually many weeks after downloading it),it displayed a message that it was going to shut down the system which it did and by the time I restarted it,the message "WTF H4X3D!?" was displayed after the page title and still is up till now.Funny thing is I have Norton 2008 which I update everyday and I also scan my system everyday but Norton did not even see it,talkless of been able to remove it.I installed Free AVG but it too could not remove it.I am presently using Panda's online scanner to scan the entire system but in the meantime,I'll like to ask if anyone has had this type of challenge and how you resolved it.I have to get this trojan horse out very fast as it is tracking everything I do online.Thanks for your time guys.

    You have a few options, you can do a system restore to an earlier checkpoint and this helps, but you could lose some of your work (it is up to you)

    You can also try downloading a free trial of Kaspersky AV/security Antivirus Software: Kaspersky Lab - Protection Against Malware and Cybercrime

    and this is by far one of the best security suites out there, norton is junk, always has been.

    Can you tell us the name of the file you ran immediately before this happened.

    This is crucial, so I can trace which virus/trojan you got hit with.

    I wound up with a trojan that avg and windows defender couldn't
    handle. I downloaded Avast and when you first start it you have
    the option of freezing your puter in mid restart and it then does a
    scan of everything. It found the problem and trashed it. I googled
    the name of the trojan later and found stories of computers being
    made useless by it.

    It is quite a nice system and it saved me a major headache.

    Hey Deji,

    Magic mel is right. Norton is weak. I got hit with several trojans and Norton 2008 didn't even catch them. So, I downloaded and now use Avast Personal Edition (avast.com). Not only did they find multiple viruses and clean them out, but they've kept my system safe thus far. Which is better than norton ever did.

    Thanks to everybody for your replies.Eventually,I had to format and reinstall the operating system to get the trojan horse off.But at least I've learnt from the incidence and how to avoid such in the future and I'm sure you guys have also learnt form the various responses to my question.As for the name of the file,I don't remember it.

    I'm glad you at least got rid of the problem.

    I got nailed once too while using Norton. I also recommend Avast AV. It is quite aggressive.
