How Many Articles Do I Need To Write And Link To My Site/Blog ?

Hi all,

Another newbie question coming here...

Hope this doesn't sound a dumb question like how long's a piece
of string !

When building a website/blog to promote a product, one of the
best ways to get traffic (so I'm told) is to write articles and link
them to your site, right ?..

If for example I've built a site to promote a golf product, how
many golf articles do I need to write and link to my site ?

And, how many article directories do I need to submit to ?

What would be a sufficient number ?

Thanks for your time.

John

Confucious Say ... Never trust one arm
fisherman telling you how long fish is

    (or string .. lol )

Only way to know is write articles, submit until your traffic
level is where you want it ... you DO realize how many variables
you need to consider to compute this question don`t you?

Anyway ... you`ll find article marketing is slowly but surely
becoming less effective ... meaning the *magic number* your
after is slowly but surely rising.

I saw a post awhile ago saying along the lines of having to only
submit a few articles 3 or 4 years to dominate ... then went to
10/15 ... pretty sure the post mentioned 50+ articles now so
that`s a rough guide I guess ....... in all cases, don`t rely solely
    on article marketing

Article marketing will always work, just that the focus is not in article directories anymore.

Seek new web sites that are willing to post your articles. Guest blogging is still a good way to tap directly into other people's traffic and build your readership - if you own a blog.

As to your question, John, the answer is really as many as you can. If 10 articles sends you 100 visitors per day, it just makes sense to write 100, and then 1,000, and so on.

If you focus on article directories, as your articles become aged, they will become less effective too in sending traffic to your site, unless your articles happen to rank well on search engines on quite popular keywords. That could send you traffic for years.

Right now I'm trying to submit 25 to 35 a month and I'm seeing a huge impact on my sales in some very competitive nices.

For me, I saw a huge difference when I went from submitting 8 articles a month thru submityourarticles to submitting those 8 and adding another 2 or 3 directly to certain sires devoted to my niche.

I hope that makes sense and helps.

Of course that all depends on what niche you are working in. There are some niches where it is easier to rank for keywords than others.

I just submit to EZA and do not bother with the others.

You want to write artices every month consistently. Consistentcy is the main thing. Many people suggest writing about 2 per week, but do what is comfortable to you and then build upon that. Start off being consistent at writing a couple a month and then decide.

You need to submit as many as possible. Pereto's law of 80/20 applies to articles. Some will produce exceedingly good results and others will not make a dime.

Submit an article every day to Ezinearticles.com. Then submit the same article through an article distribution service like Isnare.com or articlemarketer.com (which is having a few delays in distribution currently, but they promise the problems will soon be over).

Use a keyword phrase in the title of the article, once in the first paragraph and at the end of the article.

The trick is consistency. Every day for 30 days write and submit an article. Personally I find it easier to write a batch of 5 articles all at once, then submit daily.

    How many articles per day?

This depends on your niche. The more competitive the market, the more articles you will need.

5 a day is not bad. But you can even submit more. Today article marketers don't hesitate to submit 100 articles per week... and even more.

    All the best.

    Hey John,

I have one niche with over 100 articles that I've posted, and another with about 20.

You know what's crazy? I get 5x the traffic and built my list a heck of a lot faster in the niche with fewer articles.

Unfortunately I don't think you'll get the answer your looking for. You really have to find out and see for yourself.

You really ought to write at least 3 a day until you get some cash and then outsource while you research new niches to get into.

Time=money. Work harder and submit more, you'll get to your goals faster. Oh, BTW, define your goals BEFORE you shoot for them. You can't hit the side of a barn with a shotgun if you don't have a barn in the first place.

There are so many variables to think of, that it would be impossible to give you an exact number.

First off, study your niche. Find out if that market is hungry for what you have to offer. You can write 100 on one niche and not make a dime, or 10 in another and make thousands. The key is to really do as much research as you can BEFORE you start your article writing.

Once the money starts rolling in, find out how you did that, rinse and repeat. Duplicate what works and leave behind what doesn't. Works everytime.

  • I guess I look at thing differently than others, if you want to compete against the big boys who rank high on google, you have to study who the top ten websites are and then seek out to defeat them....you must out do them in every way possible, and leave no stone unturned. You'll Super write up content and powerful keywords fit together like a puzzle created by a genius. And you'll need tons of backlinks, it's not a matter of how much you write, but how much quality in the right area's need to be the best, to get ranked higher than all the rest.
I think the guy with the most solidly packed keywords per sentence through out every paragraph written on their website as a whole, will stand on top of Google higher as long as you have some backlinks. Also backlinks are not as important as top content. And you can throw the old Meta tags out the window, who needs them?
Sure everyone wants, people with PR 5 to PR 8 linking to thier websites, but I don't think that ranks you on google as much as people think. The reason I say this is because I get ranked on google 90% of the time in the top 5 stops always, but I know how to do it. And can do it over and over again.

Next as far as bank links go, I rather be ranked on google , than have 5000 backlinks per website.....and get this, normally I get ranked on google when I start a website out with only about 35 backlinks, maybe less....so it's the high content and keywords that are creating the high rankings. Yet that's not to say I don't build up back links over time, because I do build up backlinks even after I am ranked high and I have 1000's of back links to my pages.I just believe that 80 percent of the people who come to a web site do so from Internet search enigines and not backlinks. I know many will disagree and that's ok. But I have seen this over and over again online.

One last thing, I try to rank a website at least 5 to 10 different sub categories on google , besides the main one. So I bring in people from many different angles.
The guitar websites I have listed below and the viral marketing are just hobbie sites, my main sites are not listed. So please don't ask me to show my main sites due to the fact they are online goldmines for me. And I am not sharing those product idea's I sell.

Thanks for all the replies, they're much appreciated.

I'd best get my writing hat on and get started !

The problem for me is writing dozens of articles on the same
subject/niche. After I've done a few I dry up and suffer from
writers block - the last one I did took me 2 hours !

I'm trying to go a bit faster so maybe I can cut that right
      down to about 1hr 59mins ! LOL

      Regards to all

      John
