Should Clickbank Ban Proof That Is The Product?

How many sales pages have you seen with massive clickbank sales graphs on and are left wondering if the same proof is just from sales of that particular product i.e. it does not really support that the system or product on sale will bring in that much income?

I know I see this all the time and wonder if Clickbank should introduce a system that verifies these earnings in a way that add further credibility to the product offer.

In addition to this they should in my view ban earnings proof which is clearly either fake or proof of earnings from the sale of the product.

  • I think they should have a public reporting system. You generate a report, like say "Sales of these products between this date and that date," and it gives you a unique key that anyone can use to look up the same report. This report lists the account, the dates, and the products involved, so you can verify that the earnings reported are accurate.

    We will, of course, have certain people saying "but I don't want to give out my ClickBank account!" - well, how do we know that's not someone else's account?

    And then we'll have people saying "but telling what products I sold is what's in the book!" - well, how do we know the products in your book match the earnings?

    (There could, of course, be an "All Products" report that doesn't reveal products. So you could do an "All Products" report, then in your book reveal the products and give a detailed report that lists them to prove it matches the "All Products" report.)

    I've been suggesting this for over a year. Seems obvious to me.

    This is already illegal. They don't have to ban it. If a vendor is showing fake earnings proof or misrepresenting that proof, it's against the law.

    Not that this helps, because the legal authorities don't give a crap about ClickBank and will never do anything about it.

    Although displaying fake results is illegal ... I still think CB could do more to enforce this or being positive to support genuine earnings proof by introducing some sort of validation process. Your idea for a reporting sytem would probably cover this as well.

    Bottom line we would be able to sift out junk and sell/purchase products that ACTUALLY do what they say on the tin!

      What's the point in doing so? There is technology available to fake Clickbank accts, Adsense accts, CJ accts, etc., on the fly. And most importantly, who is going to pay for the extra resources needed to do so?

      Or course, your PROOF may not be for earnings, but proof is proof, right? Or, do you draw the line when it comes offering proof of a 82.9% CTR Rate on EZA versus offering proof of earnings of making $5698.27 in two weeks with no IM experience?

  • It's not in Clickbanks interests to do that, why would they waste their resouces on that are you going to pay for it? They're simply a merchant solution, not the internet police.
  • How could clickbank prove ANYTHING!?!?!? ALL they can say is "We sent money to someone for something, and the guy got paid money for something." Suppose it was a massive collaborative launch, and the guy sold a LARGE package with really nothing in it. The SALES are fake, since they were referred from others. The INCOME is fake, since there will likely be refunds, etc.... And HECK, if they revealed the source of the money and the traffic, there are TONS of problems with that.

    • John, the kind of thing you are proposing is a windmill I don't believe Clickbank has any interest in jousting with - yet.

      Right now, they're basically an online flea market that provides an umbrella, merchant account services and a limitied back office function. In return, they collect a 'booth fee' from the vendor plus a cut of sales.

      At this point, it's not in their best interest to do anything to lower their take.

      At some point, though, some ambitious tort lawyer is going to read the TOS and connect the dots. According to Clickbank, in order to get around the requirements for merchant accounts for individual vendors, becomes the de facto product seller. Collect enough examples of faked proof, and that ambitious lawyer could try a class action suit that, while it may not be winnable (depending on the court) would generate insane headlines for the lawyer and insane headaches for Clickbank.

      If something like that ever happens, they'll probably get a lot pickier about who they rent booths to...

  • Clickbank needs to do what Google has been doing with hypey salesletters. Unfortunately, they don't have major Corporations spending millions per month like Google so they'll continue to let things go as long as they get the money.

    • Sure - it would be better if every product worked as claimed, too, but that's not going to happen.

      CB has trouble correctly tracking links - and the only extras they've added for a long time are those designed to produce more $$ for CB.

      There is far too much emphasis on "proof" in IM products. You could provide valid proof of your earnings with your new method - but the moment hundreds begin using it, it may be ineffective. Too many people make buying decisions based on "testimonials" and "proof" - and end up with products they don't know how to use or with products that go in all different directions.

  • if you buy any product based on revenue earned by someone else your nuts

    faked or otherwise what someone else managed to earn using a technique is totally irelevant... If i put out a product based on earning $100 a day and you use it and make $200 a day and someone else only made $2 a day

    Is it relevant at all... Am i a scammer because someone only made $2 a day from it...or a hero because someone made $200 a day
