Affiliate marketing for offline sales

by tragictrip 2 replies
Hey guys, I've been wondering if it's possible to track referrals for sales that are done offline?

For example, if you recommend a group of friends to an awesome restaurant, and they visit it the next day because of your recommendation. I think affiliate marketing, if done offline, can provide local businesses with a boost in sales, and marketers like ourselves a boost in income.

However, how would the tracking of the sale come about? Is this idea workable or completely impossible? I would love to hear any input you guys may have.

    That would rely on
    a) the business remembering to ask its customers how they heard about them, and
    b) the customer remembering to say who referred them when they are asked

However, if you can come to that arrangement with a business then it has to be worth a try.

Track it via coupons. You give the customer a coupon. This way the restaurant knows who referred them and doesn't have to ask. Plus the customers are given a reason for their visit...

    Birthday discount
    Valentines discount
    Christmas discount
    It's a Wednesday discount

    etc
