Do press releases make money?

I want to make a press release but don't want to throw away good money.

Now, do press releases bring in money.

What has been your personal experiences etc

You bet ya they do. They have to be of very high quality as they do not circulate spam these days. Try not to look too self promoting. If it is good it WILL do the rounds and dont be afraid to pay as many of the best ones charge. Hope that helps.

They can do. My advice would be to use free press release services as there are plenty of them.

Always write in 3rd person and don't try and be salesy although you can be as salesy as you like with pressbox.co.uk

Use your keyword phrase as title.

    I've made loads using pressbox.

I've had great success using free press releases.

I agree with KP's comments above.

I've found it to be hard work and have never sub-let the writing or submitting.

It can be tedius in the extreme opening accounts, writing releases and submitting but the ROI is considerable - in my experience anyway.

I normally submit to about 20/25 of the free press release sites.

It's amazing how, months after submission, the releases are still being picked up and even one release can generate thousands of references in Google.

I check the backlinks to my sites on a regular basis and have been truly blown over by the number of one way links back.

Give it a go, it's worth it but it is tedious.

I always advise my clients to add a press release to their article marketing efforts. A well-written press release is as easy to write as an article but it goes out to a different type of audience - the trick is to make the press release informative and factual rather than a long-winded advertisement.

They can - if they're well-written and "newsy" enough to get picked up. A press release that reads more like a sales pitch for your newest website or latest product isn't going to give you as much success, though. Give readers a reason to care about what you're promoting, and you have a much better chance of seeing great results.

And, don't forget, each press release counts as another backlink (and, every time it gets picked up somewhere, that's yet another backlink), so they can also be very helpful for SEO purposes. Plus, with Google's universal search, your press release can wind up on page 1 of the search results (albeit for a short time) - even if your website isn't there yet.

It depends on how well it is written and how well it gets syndicated. I wrote one 2 years ago and it brought me a fair bit of traffic (nothing amazing) and I don't know the first thing about writing an effective one. The point being if I had some skill at writing them I could've brought in even more traffic. If you are going to spend the money to do one I would recommend spending a little to have it written by someone talented in crafting them unless you are already skilled in this area yourself. It'll cost you a little more, obviously, but can be well worth it if your site/products convert well. One downside I have noticed when I did mine is that they can get buried very quickly so I got the initial traffic burst and then it quickly declined.

I used a press release with one of my sites back in 2005 and it wasn't really about the traffic that it brought in, it was the backlinks from all of the different news media sites that syndicated the press release.

Absolutely press releases make good money. I had some one post one of my articles from eza on a pr site. The article brought me in over 800 in a few days and a couple thousand extra visitors just from someone posting my article on on pr site. This is what brought me to producing press releases. I had never thought of doing so until that month. Just so every one knows the pr site was prudent press agency and even to this day 8 months later I am still getting traffic from whom ever posted my article to that site.

You can definitely get some major backlinks with a press release, but I wonder if it's wise to send so many backlinks to a freshly made site. Perhaps press releases are the exception to the too many backlinks at once rule?

Besides getting views from posting a press release and the backlinks. I use the press release and post them to my Social Media following of over 100,000 connections. They work....

Yes, I've tried it and I'm satisfied with the result. I also use them for backlinks

Press releases are a valuable tool if it's well-written and if you make the information newsworthy.

Don't be too self-promoting and avoid using fancy language. Also, provide individual to contact, address, email.

Thanks for the interesting thread. I know they are a good thing to do, but have not used them much at all - I guess I've just never had the patience to sit down and do it, but now I'm inspired!

Depends on how you play the game...

Some people make a living with press releases alone...

Others barely get noticed with press releases...

I have read reports on how people make huge money with press releases... I never have...

I have made a ton of money with articles... But you don't have to look far to find people who have never made money with articles...

Which proves to reiterate my original statement...

It depends on how you play the game...
