anyone ever get a call from paypal??

this kind of weirded me out. i've heard a lot of horror stories from paypal users, however the worst i ever experienced is my account being temporarily limited and me calling them, and then fixing it.

a few min. ago i stepped outside for a moment, while i was gone i had a missed call from paypal. when i called it back, i eventually got to someone that told me it was noted on my account something about a payment i recieved?? she put me on hold and came back and said everything was okay.

it kind of weirded me out a bit...i do worry about paypal sometimes because of the stories, which is why i never leave that much money in it without withdrawing it. but i really do like to use them from their ease of use.

anyway, just curious to know if this happens to anyone else? i have never gotten a call from paypal before. something new they're starting?

They called me once because there was suspicious activity on my personal paypal account. Since I only use that account once or twice a month, I didn't know what they were talking about. Turns out I'd been hacked and the guy stung me for over $500.

PayPal got it straightened out and all my money was put back. If they hadn't called me and noticed this themselves, I wouldn't have known until the bounced check fees started coming in.

PayPal has called me several times. Twice when someone I had paid was under investigation (turned out to be nothing and was resolved quickly), and at least one other time just to check that I had authorized a payment.

They also called me once in response to a frustrated Tweet about their lack of service. Guess I should be more careful about where I post complaints.

Only time my account was ever ripped off was using Firefox and forgetting to log out. Last I read FF didn't have much security. Got my money back. Oh, I also set it up that to use my Paypal debit card online I had to go approve it by hand in my account. I thought that was a good security idea.

Yes actually. I opened a case because the item I bought was out of stock and were not willing to give a money back refund just store credit. Case was opened and PayPal called me a few days later saying they got the money into my account :]

Hey, I got a call from em. It was scary. Well, my account got limited frozen for a while because I bought a report from a person. Yeah, a person they were investigating, but they did not limit his account - strange, and then some.

I told them I could not use ebay because ebay now forces people to use pay pal - check & MO no more.

They said this was to protect me. What a hassle this company is.

Finally, after a bunch of call my account was back in. The is one strange company. What is their agenda anyway?

I think they like to look after their own financial security and that of their customers. Weird, huh?!

...based on various criteria that automatically triggers flags to be raised by their risk management system; you might be flagged to be called by a representative in order to verify your identity or certain transaction data.

This is all done with the best intentions on thwarting fraud and/or identity theft. There's no need to worry if you're not doing anything that violates their TOS.

Ive never been called by them but my account is limited at the moment. If i phone them, will they be able to resolve it?

The resolution centre says i need to wait around 2 weeks for the code to be sent through the post but i want it sorted quickly.

I have never been called by PayPal, but I have been called after purchasing products online from other businesses. As long as I can verify that it's actually the company calling and not some scam artist who happened to obtain my phone number, I'm happy.

Best way to deal with that is to log into PayPal, get their contact phone number, and call them back directly instead of using the # on your caller ID. That way you can be sure you are calling PayPal and not a scam company.

I get called now and again, because they see suspicious behavior on my debit card...

One time it was a good thing they did, because someone was running California using my card to buy gasoline and dinners... I have never been to California in my life... I was able to get all of those charges reversed...

I talked to them twice this past weekend, because one of my purchases was deemed suspicious... They blocked it... Then I called and got transaction approved... Then as soon as I made the purchase, they tagged my account again...

It was truly annoying, but I am glad they are watching...

They call me asking for my suppliers once every month or so, I guess I AMAZE them with how much money just a normal guy can process through his PayPal account (I dropship from China, so it's not as much as it seems). I've found the best way to continue operating without any hiccups is to let them converse with my voicemail and answering machine. Actions don't seem to be taken until they actually get a couple moments of my time.

The first person to give me a 2 week limitation until verification of my product suppliers announced to me she is a 19 year old college freshman after some probing from my end. Let a 19 year old play Dungeon Master with my business, money, and customers... er, no thanks?

But then again, if you only make $10 a week from your article writing service, I wouldn't expect to receive any real attention from PayPal.

It’s possible. They called me once for some dispute issues although I’ve already worked on it as they requested. Everything is solved already.

I had a call once minutes after transferring some funds.
They were just checking it was me who was doing the transfer.
No problems. They were professional and friendly.
