Can you put trademark in the website's name? for example, can I buy xyzlazy.com where xyz is a trademark owned by some other company (and not me).

How can I find out which words are trademarks?

thanks

You don't even have to think of doing anything like that.

Look at this site: Trademarks Home

    It's a criminal offense.

Whoa, "King Shiloh's" post is entirely wrong and should be ignored.

      Maybe in Nigeria?

It is not a criminal offense to have a trademark in a domain name.

Whether or not there may be civil liability for trademark infringement depends on the trademark, the domain name, and purpose of the website on the domain.

There is no simple black or white answer that this is ok or not ok.

Yes I agree, Wow do NOT listen to that advice no offense but I made that mistake and I dodged a huge lawsuit bullet. It does make a difference of what you use the domain name for.

Usually you can't. But there are many sites who get away with it since they are not making money of the trademark, OR the site helps the company behind the trademark in some way.

If the purpose of your website is to get traffic and make sales by using someone else's trademark, then you run a high risk of receiving a cease and desist letter from the company, or losing the domain in a UDRP or they could just sue you.

Ask yourself if it's worth the risk and whether or not you want to spend time developing a site that you may have to give up the domain to later. Ask yourself if you're also willing to incur attorney's fees for the website.

    Not worth it to me.

Are you promoting a product from the company?

If so, ask them. If you receive permission from them in writing, then you are on much safer ground.

Now, no matter what anyone says in this thread realize one thing, in general you are asking legal idiots...especially me. If you are concerned ask an attorney who knows trademark law, not us.
