Domain name purchasing timeframe?

Someone told me years ago that when you purchase a domain name, you should do it for a minimum of 2 years, otherwise google won't rank you very high. Is this true?

I usually purchase a domain for 1 year and if the site works out well, I'll renew it for multiple years.

I've got a site registered for 1-year, and it's ranking on the first page of Google, right up there with some very large established sites, that are worth millions. Even ahead of them in some cases....so that can't be true.

    Nah...not true at all..

Maybe it has some place in Google 200+ ranking factors...

But not significant enough...Backlinks and Domain Authority is still NO1..
