Hey,

Tomorrow, I will start building my first Amazon Affiliate Site.

Before I start (as this is my first site trying to sell tangible products/ my digital products failed big time) do ye ol' experts have any good advice for me.

I'm Kinda going blind...so any good advice would be much appreciated.

I don't know why you would go in blind when there are a ton of resources on this very forum , detailing how to be successful promoting amazon stuff.

There really are several good resources on Amazon here. Check the WSO section. Might save you a lot of time and heartache.

Maybe you should wait and do some more research before going in blind.

It would be best to do thorough research. Not many make good affiliate money by accident.

For starters, try to choose products on Amazon that are worth promoting. In other words it has received excellent feedback by reviewers - 4 to 5 star rating, no less.

Also, make sure that you choose products that will return you are good commission. If you choose products that are worth $20 it is going to require a lot of sales to get a worthwhile income. Try and go with products that are over $150.

The next step is to write really good quality reviews. Don't just copy the content from Amazon - it's hard to compete with Amazon when you use the exact same content. We found that quite long reviews converted better - around a 1000 words. Be as helpful as possible.

Also, use text links. They convert a lot better in my opinion to using the Amazon widgets.

    Hope that helps.

Personally, I've have a lot of success with buying targetedKeyword.com, and then just really hammering home the targetedKeyword. Just be aware that while a lot of people talking about getting to numero uno on Google most of them don't get there, so if you go that route be sure to chose a very, very specific item that's in demand. My rule of thumb is using the AdWord's 'keyword traffic tool' to find specifics keywords that are low-comp and around 500 searches a month. While the math on something like that doesn't look as impressive as the absurd figures people toss around it's a good starting point, and it's fairly easy to achieve a front page ranking within a couple months time.

Do yourself a favor, if you're upset that you're not getting the results everyone else is don't get worked up about it. There are a TON of unsubstantial claims floating around out there. You're more than likely not doing anything wrong. Getting ranked in the big G's index can take a few weeks, so go browse a website completely unrelated to IM in the mean time. Nothing good ever comes from trying too hard, or making rash choices while you're panicked.

Use this first website as a learning opportunity, and don't start another website until you have mastered the first one. If you have questions, come back here and ask them.

This is an awesome place to learn the exact information that you're going to need to make your first site a success, and there are a ton of very knowledgeable people here that are willing to help you for free, which is amazing.

        Thanks Leclaims,

That's my plain this round, To set-up a site then come back here and ask for advice about the how to tweak and or troubleshoot my site until I have consistant success... then rinse and repeat!!!

This is my fifth trial (all digital products in past), I hoping that because I'm converting to tangible products and that I will be willing to ask for help this time, this will finally equal success.

I will make this site work!! Period.

If you can drive targeted traffic to your site you will make money. This is what it ultimately boils down too.

          Good luck and enjoy!

            Thanks Jan,

I intend on using George Brown's (Google Sniper) method SEO method. Do you feel that this is a wise choice?

It's all I have to go by, for now.

I am not familiar with his SEO methods so I can't comment on them.

If you are looking for a super good SEO strategy I suggest you buy fellow Warrior Daniel Tan's Rank Mover other than that I have had good success with the methods in the videos.

              Cheers

    Do it!

My advice is: don't think you can be all things Amazon to all People. Amazon is so huge you need to niche down to a specific area. You'll see that that is the way to succeed...You need to have a target area.

Also: There are a number of very useful Amazon threads right here. Search some out, read, study learn. Study them again and again. Follow the plan. Keep with the plan.

I get a check every month from Amazon. It is not my sole source of revenue. But it is consistent. You need to develop your site, with useful content, reviews and recommendations. Then promote it...

    Good luck. Keep on chooglin'...

    Don't give up.
