one .com and exact .co.uk website

I have a .com website here in the US and I have bought the matching name with .co.uk, to target the UK. How will Google look on this if I have exactly the same content? Or am I going about this in the wrong way?

I suspect so, yes. It's absolutely unnecessary to use the .co.uk name (but register it, if you want it, and redirect it to the .com?).

Using a .co.uk domain-name may be bad for the US market, but using a .com isn't at all bad for the UK market. (10 years ago, possibly). UK residents are used to websites being ".com" and don't look askance at it at all, nowadays. Not even in Wimbledon.

Maybe I'll do a redirect and see if I get any hits. Thanks.
