Selling a Product Through Paypal

Please can someone help.

I have just put together my first optin page (linking to AWeber) and sales letter with payment through Paypal. When someone buys my ebook, how will they actually receive the ebook? Do I have to upload it somewhere?

    There are two main ways of doing this (probably more.).


    1. The Simple way

    Setup your paypal link so that after the order is completed, they are taken to your download page:

    For an example:

    yoursite/downy4112.html

    You want something hard to guess.

    2: The Better Way

    I have use this with good success. After paypal they are taken to a page where they are told to enter their name and email address. This puts them on another email list for back sales and back content. After submitting this info, they are taken to your download page. I also send them download instructions in the first email.


    Here is a tip to hep protect your download page.


    Create a PHP file (orderdone.php for an example) Then have your paypal link point to this as the download page. All orderdone.php is a redirect to your real download page or squeeze page.The reason for doing it this way is that you can easily change the download page often and just edit orderdone.php and not have to create a new pay pal link.

    To create the redirect file: (orderdone.php)

    1. Open notepad.
    2. Insert this code:
    <?php
    header( 'Location: yourweb addressl' ) ;
    ?>

    3. Save as orderdon.php.
    4. Upload and adjust paypal link


    You can do a search online for more info on all this

    Keep searching and learning. I have been there. Hang in there and the money will start coming.

      Both ways above are unfortunately not secure. Once a single user has bought your product, they can post the download link anywhere, thus allowing others to download straight from your server, using your bandwidth, without paying.

      Although "the better way" lets you move the download, all someone has to do is get to the redirect file yourwebaddress/orderdone.php to gain access to the download page.

      You really want some form of system in place (DLGuard, Membership Script, etc) to keep unauthorized downloads to a minimum.

    Please consider doing this more securely. I just did exactly what you are trying to do. I contacted Sam Stephens, a warrior here and bought DLGuard. His software encrypts the download links, allows you to limit the time and number of downloads and more. His software also tracks conversions so you can see how well your offer is converting. His integration with PayPal and ClickBank alone justify the cost. Hope this helps.

      I second Tom's suggestion to get DLGuard. Sam's a great guy with a great piece of software. It will do everything you need it to do.

      Another thing that you'll want to do is to create a custom header for your PayPal payment page so that the user doesn't get turned off when they see the junky default PayPal header with either your email or business name in it.         I would fully agree that DLGuard is likely the best way to go. However, until you get some cash you may just want to keep it simple and see if it will bring in some money.
