Can someone please help me with an anchor text problem I'm having?

Hi

I've been trying to figure this out for about an hour or more.

What I'm trying to do is have Coughs and colds as the link.

For example:

For more information on childhood illnesses read, <a href="http://mydomain.com/children/coughs-...ds.php">Coughs and colds</a>

but the wrong link is showing.

Before this I was doing it where the artcile title was produced as a number

http://mydomain.com/?p=42

and I could manage that. Now that I'm using the title of the article it's not working and I can't figure out where I've gone wrong. For some reason the .php makes me think I should have the html done differently.

When I test it in the html view on wordpress and switch to visual it's OK but not when I preview it to Ezine Articles.

I can usually do just enough html as I need it but not this time.

Sorry if my attempts at even trying to explain it are confusing

Thanks

Mary

You may be confusing "anchors" on a page with
    actual pages.

Do you really have a page created as "coughsandcolds.php"?
    If not then you need:
    <a href="http://mydomain.com/?p=42">Coughs and colds</a>
    Hope this helps.

    Hi

No, sorry I've probably explained it wrong.

The http://mydomain.com/?p=42 is what I USED to use where the article title was a number.

Now I've changed things so the articles title shows as text - i.e cough-and-colds

So, what I'm tring to achieve is how to get

For more information on childhood illnesses read, <a href="http://mydomain.com/children/coughs-and-colds.php">Coughs and colds</a>

so that the link is Coughs and colds.

    mydomain.com - is my URL
children - is the category the article is in
Coughs and colds - is the name of the article

    This is just an example.

    Does that make sense?

If you used WordPress to make Clean URLs, then you do not need the .php on the end.

your links should look like this
    HTML Code:
    http://mydomain.com/children/coughs-and-colds
    Signature

Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich stärker

    Hi getsmartt

All I was doing in wordpress was testing the link - but maybe that's why the link worked OK.

When I look at the article on my site the URL for the article has the .php at the end.

I'm trying to create the anchor text for when I submit an article to article directories etc and want to link back to the coughs and colds article.

If you want "coughs and colds" to be hyperlinked to the
coughs-and-colds.php page, then it looks like everything is correct. Can you pm me the site so I can take a look?

    Hi getsmartt

If you take another look at my op the 'Coughs and colds' isn't highlighted and it should be.

    It's the "http://mydomain.com/children/coughs-and-colds.php">Coughs
    that's highlighted.

How do I change it so the URL isn't the link?

This isn't on my site it was used as an example but it's for the resource box for EA

I tested this code on EzineArticles (in the article body)

    Code:
    <a href="http://mydomain.com/children/coughs-and-colds.php">Coughs and colds</a>
and all three words "cough and cold" are hyperlinked

It doesn't work here on the forum because the forum is trying to convert it to bbcode and stops at the first space. (as near as I can tell)

Thanks getsmartt - I'll give it another go - maybe it's just me.

    It's been a long day!

    Many thanks
