Clickbank affiliates: I need your advice...

What sort of commission would attract you for digital media? Is 60% on a product with okay conversion and a low refund rate attractive enough?

Even more important, what sort of commission do you look for on shippable media?

Prices are $47 digital and $67 physical.

It has to be lower than the digital commission because of production costs. I think affiliate commissions are figured on the product price but not shipping, right? (although the Clickbank commission is on the total price including shipping)

Thanks for your opinions!

As long as it converts and there isn't a whole lot of bs on the page like optins or links to other pages where there is an alternative affiliate link.

If it's in my niche (and is a decent product) I'd promote it lightly and if it catches on I would promote it heavily

Hi David, I believe that most serious, professional affiliates (i.e. the ones you most want to attract!) don't work/select from the basis of the commission percentage but the eps (earnings per sale), so this will always depend on the price.

I (and perhaps others?) would "select" according to the assumption that the majority of the sales will be digital (just in case they are) and calculate accordingly.

A $47 price pays the affiliate a percentage of $42.47 after Clickbank's two deductions.

To attract affiliates with a $25 per sale cut-off, the commission percentage would therefore need to be 59%. In which case I'd suggest that you might just as well make it 60% just to include the few affiliates who perhaps search/examine only the "60%+ products".

I have apparently arrived at Hamida's 60% figure, but by a different route!

If paying a different commission percentage on the shippable product, this would need somehow to be done using a different vendor account, as I believe vendors are allowed only one commission rate (as well as one marketplace listing) per account, not per product?

    Others' opinions may differ.
