Help With Optin Page Set Up

Hi fellow Warriors,

I've been doing affiliate marketing for a while, just using direct linking on Yahoo with Clickbank products. Now though, I want to start building a list. My approach will be to set up an optin page to collect names for my list... then send my list a daily/weekly newsletter and promote products through the newsletter.

But I'm not sure how optin pages work. Obviously I need the optin page with benefit-driven copy to entice people to give me their details. But I also know that once someone opts in, they are directed to a thankyou page.

My question is, do I have to set up another page as the thankyou page... or can this be taken care of by my autoresponder service?

Any help very appreciated.

Sign up with an AR (auto responder) service and you will see whether they have a default thankyou page or not. Some have...

Although, even if they provide such a page you would be better making your own: helps with branding, personalization.
And if your optin/list is set for double optin, you need:
    - optin page
    - thankyou page
    - confirmed page

Thanks Istvan. If I need to set up a thank you page and a confirmation page, would they be run off of the same domain as the optin? For example:

www dot domain dot com (as the optin page)
www dot domain dot com / thankyou (as the thankyou page)

      Any help appreciated.

Yes, you would create them on your related domain. I know that Aweber, for one, has a "built in" thank you page that you can utilize instead of a custom page, but of course a custom page is generally better, looks more cohesive, and sends a more professional message.

You won't necessarily need an opt in page...that depends on how you're setting it up on your website. If you are utilizing one of the opt in "boxes" that you can create with your autoresponder, you can place that in the sidebar of your website and when people opt in and confirm, they will get sent to the thank you page you specify. No need to have a opt in page on your site if you choose to go this route.

Thanks Lisa. I will be using adwords to drive traffic straight to an optin page. It will be hightly benefit driven to capture names and email addresses. So thanks again, appreciate you taking the time to answer.
