How can you generate a site map for dynamic pages?

My newest site is just a script using a single template that you edit for the whole site and the rest of the site is generated dynamically. Fortunately Google is counting these dynamic pages as a real page but they haven't indexed every one of them so I would like to make a site map.

Any ideas?

If you used wordpress, you could do this with a plugin. But doesn't sound like that is the script your using. Without some coding experience, I think it wouldn't be too hard to just use www.xml-sitemaps.com and run a new sitemap, say once a week. Of course that would require some work once in a while, but only takes a couple minutes.

I already tried to build one there. But seeing that the content is generated on the fly it only recognizes one page and thinks my site is only one page. Wordpress doesn't have dynamic pages by the way, they are static.

Yeah now that I think about it, WP doesn't have static pages. Their URLs aren't stored anywhere on the server. WP is dynamic too.

Anyway I'm not using WP or even a blogging platform so any WP plugins are useless to me. I'm just using a PHP script that generates dynamic content.

Its called .htaccess or commonly know as SEO Friendly URL's hence you can change them in the admin area

eg) my-page-1.html or my-page-1 or many other options.

WTF? You can't use sitemap.xml to GENERATE your pages. You generate your pages and then output them onto a sitemap.xml file.

Don't give advice when you don't know anything about it. Not trying to me mean I'm just saying someone who is a newbie might take your advice on another issue and do something disastrously wrong.

        www.xml-sitemaps.com

Take a breath and relax before you answer ..

He didn't mention any URL, he said "sitemaps.xml" and it links to NOTHING. LOOK AGAIN. And believe me you haven't even seen me be abusive yet.

I told him I wasn't trying to be mean, but "sitemap.xml" isn't the right answer and giving people the wrong answers could be harmful.

You might consider answering in a nicer tone. I have seen well know Guru's banned from this site ... Not a threat more along the lines of guidance .. We are all here to learn and learning is a two way process .. You give and you recieve ...

I've both given and received plenty. I think my "thank you's" speak for that. Hell I've even given and received in this thread! I made sure that I came and updated my post when I found what I was looking for so that others could use the tool too.

So just because you're misinterpreting my tone doesn't mean I'm not giving anything back. I've helped a lot here and answered questions.

I think this was the tone Dave was referring to... Just seems like there is nicer ways to word things.. And I am not just talking about this thread (nor do I think Dave is).

At any rate, I am happy that you figured out your solution to the wordpress problem.

I will be 100% honest with you right now and tell you that I have Borderline Personality Disorder and I'm on disability for it. You can look it up on your own but basically it's a little like Asperger's Autism.

So therefore I have trouble judging "tone". If I offended anyone here, I am sorry. I prefaced my post with "I'm not trying to be mean" and I thought that was polite enough. But I guess my BPD has failed me again. *shrugs shoulders*

I don't know what more I can do or say for you guys.

Wordpress pages aren't static.... So I don't know why that was said. But the URL's make it appear to be static. But I understand what she is trying to see, but technically Wordpress pages are dynamic in the sense that they are DB driven...

Definition of a dynamic page: "A web document that is created from a database in real-time or "on the fly" at the same time it is being viewed, providing a continuous flow of new information and giving visitors a new experience each time they visit the web site."

Technically wordpress does this. There are not static pages. Static pages are just simple HTML files. All pages in wordpress are dynamic since content is being pulled from a DB and pages are created on the fly...
