Managing Prospects and Buyers

This post is primarily intended for warriors who use the common autoresponders (Aweber, GetResponse, iContact, MailChimp, etc) rather than the pricier integrated contact management/shopping cart solutions. For those who present your buyers list opt-in as a heavily-incentivized option after a sale, aren't you worried that the few buyers who choose not to opt-in are still on your prospect list?

I assume ppl are using autoresponder automation rules to automatically remove a contact from your prospect list whenever that contact opts-in to your buyers list. If this is true and a tiny percentage of buyers choose not to opt-in after purchase, isn't it possible that you might still be pitching them the product that they just bought simply because they're still on your prospect list?

Also, if you have more than one product, do you have a separate buyers list for each product or do you just have a single buyers list which contains contacts for anyone who has bought at least one of your products?

TIA!

You don't have to delete them off the prospect list, on Aweber for example you can put the buyers e-mails onto the suppression list, and they won't receive any broadcasts.

When you've finished the promotion, you can then remove them from the suppression list.

But how would you automatically move a buyer's email address to the suppression list after a sale if he/she never opts in to your buyers list? Also, what if your promotions for that product consist of multiple autoresponder emails rather than just a broadcast?

      Thx for the response btw.

    hey ItsDubC

I use aweber and nanacast with paypal. So when someone on my list buys something I automatically move them from one list to another using paypal's phaser feature with aweber and then notify the person they they need to confirm their email so I can give them access to the support page (which is true) as then aweber sends a message back to nanacast and out to my helpdesk to create the account.

It's a little bit more of a tricky way for doing it but it ensures me 98% of my buyers are moved from the free line into one of the 14 buyers lists I have.

Hope that helps you out a bit ItsDubC
