Been so long since I've registered a domain lol. I found a few i want to buy on godaddy, but is it me or is the hosting expensive? I thought it said free hosting but when going to check out they want me to choose packages for emails (min 10, I don't need 10 email address/accounts) and website packages.. would be around $100 a year. Is that normal? I could swear though it's been a few years, when I had some sites for another business it was way the f' cheaper.

Godaddy is not much of a deal. They're hosting is also problematic. Check out Hostgator or Bluehost.

I too am a HostGator subscriber. Unlimited domains. If you pay monthly, it's a little over $10/mth including tax (depending on where you are located). If you pay yearly, it breaks down to just over $8/mth.

A tip about GoDaddy and their upsells. Don't buy anything extra at the time of your domain purchase. Sometimes, you'll find after your purchase that you end up with a credit for a free year on an email account or something similar. I have three email addresses right now that I didn't pay for.

I use Renegade Tech Consulting for hosting. You'll pay anywhere from $2.00 a month to $6.00 a month depending on what your needs are. Plus RTC does many other things as well. Great bang for the buck!

For more info on their hosting accounts, go to the site and click on "More Info" under the hosting section!

HostGator without question. Their Baby plan is less than $10 per month, and you can have unlimited domains. Their tech support is excellent.

While I use GoDaddy frequently for domain registration, I would never use their hosting services.

Depends on what you need. If this is going to be a site that is going to require a lot of bandwidth, then I'd go with HostGator. If not, I'd go with LaceHost, as they have shared hosting for $2 a month, and I've not seen any downtime without prior warning.

You can get decent hosting for around $50 per year. What type of site are you planning?

Avoid namecheap/godaddy for hosting needs. Go for companies specializing in just hosting, like hostgator.com and bluehost.com

These two are among the cheapest and yet reliable hosting with great support... good support is EXTREMELY important.

Has anyone here checked out HeroeHost? It's ridiculously cheap. I haven't tried them, but they recommended them in one of the courses I bought here on the WF. Check them out.

We have packages as low as 5 a month or 60 a year. Hostgator has some good cheap hosting as well.

If you are planning to expand your IM and treat it as a real business, I think it'd better to start with a reputable host that you can stay with as your business grows. It'll be a major pain in the butt to shift hosting companies down the road, especially when you have a whole slew of content-filled websites running.

Stay away from cheap hosting. Usually you get burned in the long run.
