Single most frustrating thing about IM.

I would have to say it's not making money, but that's just me lol.

Nah, I would say not knowing what's not working with a campaign, because 90% may work until you hit a small snag and that ruins the sale.

the not making money is the obvious one haha :]

I guess some of the sites I own, even though rated on the first page of google, do not have "quality content" or to my standards anyway. I want to start focusing on affiliate marketing and it is going alright but,
I bought this website and I have no idea what to do with it!
It was created in 2003 and had 550 backlinks already on it.
So #3 for my keywords on google but a pointless website!

Information Marketing in general has some significant issues.

You must start with a workable plan to succeed
Second, you must execute, if not flawlessly, at least at a level that will produce positive results.
Third, you must evaluate what works and what did not, and modify your strategy appropriately.

Information Marketing is a very large topic, and has so many side issues it will drive you to distraction if you let it.

First, focus on your immediate goal. Make sure your efforts move you toward that goal. Don't get sidetracked into other issues as they arise, but stay focussed. If you are providing information via a blog or personal web site, respond to the additional issues there, but don't let them dominate the venue, nor distract you from your goal.
Stay on track with the major "thread" of your site, blog or other venue, and allow the sub-topics their own space elsewhere.

Information Marketing is a very lucrative arena, and just about anyone entering it can make money, despite the apparrent stranglehold enjoyed by the existing participants. You too can participate and generare income in the Information Marketing arena. You just have to differentiate yourself from the coowd.

Being different isn't quite as easy as it might sound. First, you have to develop a different voice, a different approach, or at least, a different way of expressing your message, if you have much chance to be notiiced and be successful. Yes, the key to success is being noticed, being read, and followed by at least some of the millions of potential visitors to any web site avaliable on the internet.

If you are anything like the Honest Marketing Techniques folks, you really want to gain exposure for honestly presented and advertised products that tell it like it is. If you follow similar processes, that of providing honest products, presented with honest marketing advertisements free of hype, fluff and bluff, you can expect that your fortunes will be assured, though they may take some time to come about. Unfotrunatly, the current state of most marketing advertisements focusses on ads that pander to emotional rhetoric or promises of near instant fortune, which we all know is nearly impossible.

IM can provide you a secure income, you only need to read beyond the false promises of over-hyped sales colleteral and find those products that actually tell the truth about what it takes to succeed in onlne marketing and deliver on their promises.

Refund? Yes, it's frustrating but FREE download is a welcome development because it keeps bringing more subscribers who like seeing, "Enter your name and email address to get the FREE report now!"

It is sheer frustration for me when I have agonized over creating precise, methodical instructions for my students, but they still don't seem to get it and ask redundant and/or nonsensical questions.

I enjoy spending my time on my computer, however I don't like doing "work" so to speak. Researching is the fun part, writing articles and website building is not.

It's having to sometimes wait so long to see any progress in sales.... anyway, its part of the fun too when the sales start rolling in

I think it's way more fun when the sales never stop rolling in, but that first sale is such a good feeling because if you can do it once, you can do it again.

Most frustrating thing for me is arguing with ad review reps over what they decide to randomly disapprove. Used to be Google, now it's Facebook. They drive me mad with their inconsistency and general fwitidity (I know that's not a word, but it's the best I can do without swearing).

The single most frustrating thing about IM is bright shiny new objects... Always something new to learn and do.

On the other hand, that's what's the most fun too.

Just got to keep focused on what you're doing. :-)

I agree with it being the new bright and shiny object every other day lol those "gurus'...

And also the huge learning curve when you first start out because no one every mentions any of this online business stuff in the "real world".. at least I haven't heard about it until I started looking into it myself.. And I have a college degree! lol

One of the things that USED to bug me to no end is spending weeks or months on a product, building some testimonials, launching and then getting sales that trickled in rather than crushed it!

Then I figured out that most of the top guru's are in the same boat, but they do a better job of testing their ideas, angles, product names/titles and sales messaging until they improve.

So now I work on a plan where any new market that I go into, I systematically launch content & mini info-products to test concepts, collect feedback and learn from how much demand there is and then improve that until that product is crushing it...

How about putting years into building, promoting, establishing affiliate websites and then having the affiliate program shut down with little to no warning? It's pretty brutal. Also, I'm not a huge fan of testing as it is rather time consuming and frustrating but I force myself to plow through it because that's what really makes the difference as far as conversions go.
