Hello,

I am starting to look at Podcasts and I am looking for some insight.

Could you recommend podcast sites or software?

I am on a very limited budget, so free would be awesome.

Also, once I start doing podcasts, where are the best places to post them, besides my website?

Should they be posted on my website?

Is there a difference between audio and video podcasts, outside of the obvious?

Thanks in advance

David

I haven't tried podcasting yet but you can submit them to these sites:

    Podcastpickle - PR 8
    Apple - PR 7
    Podcastalley - PR 7
    Podcast.com - PR 6
    Digitalpodcast - PR 6
    Podomatic - PR 6
    Fluctu8 - PR 5
    Allpodcasts - PR 5

Yes, these are all free sites.

    Hope that helps..

I agree with Jill, Audacity rocks. I've also used Garageband (Mac only).

        Other tools...

The Podpress plugin is a must if you're going to have podcast's on a Wordpress powered site. It's been around for years and it keeps up with the latest Wordpress upgrades.

There is no difference between video and audio when it comes to podcasting. Any media file can be a podcast even a PDF. Podcasting is just a way of delivering media files. I'm oversimplifying a bit but that is the difference between uploading an MP3 on your website and podcasting it (web syndication, etc).

If you're going to podcast I would recommend a decent mic. Yea you can use a cheapie mic or headset but podcast listeners can be a bit more fickle when it comes to audio quality.

Go to Amazon and search for Blue Microphones or Audio Technica. Great mic's for podcasting.

  • I agree with Avenuegirl. Audacity is a fantastic little tool to record your podcasts. Another tool which is a tad more advanced but one of my favorites is Kristal.

I specialize in Podcasts so if you need any help or advice, drop me an email to bazpmusician@googlemail.com.
