Sounds good! But to actually make those backlinks takes a lot of time! I would recommend just going to Fivver and paying someone else five dollars to do it for you!

      1. blog commenting - Because if done correctly it brings traffic, and passes positive SEO to your site.
      2. Profile links - Because they are easy and cheap to build
      3. Press releases - Because they bring solid authority
      4. Article Marketing - Because they can bring direct traffic depending on the directory
      5. Web2.0 properties - Because in some cases they already have solid PR and authority
      6. RSS Feeds - Because the autobloggers will in many cases (if your smart) pick up your feed and you will get a decent distribution of your content and link.
      7. Bookmarking - Just because you can

I'm on a back link building mission at the moment & trying to find the best options for my new sites.

I would definitely include all your suggestions in your link building strategy.

You could also add some profile links in there too.

One word of warning – Be VERY careful when choosing a link building service if you choose to go down that road.

I ordered some blog comment links from a link building service for my last site. I ended up with my links placed on blogs shared with thousands of other peoples links. My back links had no value from these blogs.

I've still a lot to learn until I'm completely happy with my back linking strategy.

At the moment I'm following these steps...

I like to keep everything as natural as possible.

First thing I do when I've set my site up is submit my URL to google, yahoo & bing.

I then bookmark my site on the top bookmarking sites.

I will submitt an article to ezine with back link in anchor text in the resource box of the article.

Once it's been accepted I then submitt to another top five article directories, articlebase, goarticle ect.

I will then bookmark the articles also.

I will build a few .edu & .gov profile links

I will also build some profile links on high PR, topic relevant sites.

I may also create a squidoo lens &/or Hubpage for a back link too.

I will also look at the top competing sites in Google for the keyword I'm trying to rank for. I will look at their back links then trying & get some of the same links they have.

Look for topic related "dofollow" blogs to comment on manualy.

I try & get a variety of links & I also look at getting back links form sites in different countys so I've got back links on different IP addresses across the world.

If your an active member of any forums it's a great idea to put a link in your signature.

All the links mentioned above are for varitey & quiantity but I like to get at least a couple of very strong links ( which I'll pay for ) on the home page of a site with a decent PR.

Any updates I make to my site I will ping the site here Autopinger - Automates Ping Blog and Podcast for Free

I'd say the single thing that you should mostly consider watching out for are JUNK backlinks. If you hire someone to do your backlinks, make sure they are legit backlinks and not some spam on blogs. Google can slap you silly for doing that.

That's not true...I know many people believe it...but, it's not true.

We've built entire SEO campaigns off of nothing but, beating up abandoned guestbooks, photo galleries, and .edu sites with a crap ton of outbound links...which included pharma, gambling, and other undesirable "neighborhoods" - The results were still good.

A while back, I posted an example of such a site that was selling "ugg boots"...the site's whole link profile consisted of pretty much spamming anything abandoned that could be found....the site was ranked #1 for over 20 competitive, buying keywords...KA-CHING.

That's interesting... thanks for the insight.

I'm still learning about back links.

When I received my report from the link building services with all the URL's for my back links I checked them out.

I could see my link was shared with hundreds of others. After doing some reading about the mass spam link building I could see there was mixed views.

Some people would say yes, they still count while other people would say no, they hold no value & Google are catching on to this kind of thing.

Here's a few of the site I had a link placed by this service...

Name of the blog | Welcome to BlogEngine.NET 1.5.0
Larry’s Lowdown | Larry's Losers in the SEC Week 11
Danceswithsheep.com | I have the most expensive offfice in the world

One of the points made about the blog commenting service was that the comment itself was being used on lots of different sites. So the same written comment was being placed on site & after site & some people reckon Google will notice this. - But who know if that's really true?

Back links seem to be quite a complicated subject when trying to learn about it.

All the... Google will notice this, Google will notice that, Google loves this, Google hates that, those links are good, those links are bad, you'll get de indexed, you'll get sand boxed, no you won't, yes you will, black hat, white hat...

        All very confusing at times.

To the point where I'm a little put off building sertain links.

Here's what's working for me at the moment:

      * Article marketing -- it's been the mainstay of my online promotions for the past ten years. Biggest benefit: easy links. Weakness: everyone's doing it;

      * Online press releases -- I've been using press releases off and on for years, but currently I'm making a hard push with this. I'm posting several press releases each week and am VERY pleased with the results. One of my sites had an 194% increase in traffic in a month, and is gathering links FAST. Biggest benefit: easy links. Weakness: the need to come up with "newsy" ideas;

      * Blogging -- once you have several blogs, you get easy links from one to the other. Biggest benefit: kickstart new pages and sites into the search engines. Weakness: Google hates too much interlinking, so you need to be careful and make sure your links are relevant;

      * Document sharing sites (Scribd) -- I post to Scribd occasionally, and should do it more. I haven't investigated this for links; it's on my to-do list. I need to set up an experiment to check whether links in PDFs have an effect. I'd like to hear others' opinions on this.

As for me, I did all of this except press release and blog commenting. I just got the feeling that some guys get pissed with blog commenting so I just skipped that one.....the rest works fine with me.....

I've been working on my site achillestendonitis.n.nu with the keyword Achilles Tendonitis (40 500 searches per month) for five weeks. What I have done is:

      1. Ezinearticles.com - seven articles
      2. Youtube - two videos with backlinks
      3. A Wordpress blogg. More or less no visitors so far.
      4. Twitter account. No followers.
      5. Facebook account. No followers.
      6. Same articles as on Ezine on Scribd (real backlink), docstoc (just backlink in the document) and issuu (real backlink)

I am number one on the second page on Google. I have been up touching page one as well put not consistent. The strange thing is that I'm not even on the top 20 page for Yahoo.

      Best!

youtube is probably the second most searched place behind google. you guys are mentioning methods that will take up too much time, especially if you go to school or work fulltime. either hire someone from fiverr (always request a finished report) or take one article, write on the MAJOR article directories, create a audio of your voice reading the article and place on youtube, then create ANOTHER video with pictures and a powerpoint feel of that same article. there you have it, 4 things you can do with one article.

Like many others, I use all the methods you have listed. I have written blog posts about this issue, and also read other blog posts as well for insight. While I agree it is a time consuming process, the efforts spent doing so are certainly worthwhile.

While the type of backlinks are important, I think more importantly is where and what youre backlins are, is more important. If youre Backlink is not relevant and on a High PR site, it really doesnt do much good. It's also a good idea to outsource you're link creation overseas to people who know what theyre doing and can generate lots of high quality backlinks that will actually get you ranked. Dont forget to add anchor text to the links or they will really not count for anything. Hope that helps.

Thank you everyone for such taking time to provide such a useful advise.

Here is something really useful I found about blog commenting.

In order to find high quality links through Blog commenting, type following string in Google

site:.com inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"

This finds you most relevant blog posts that are still open for commenting. I used this technique and was really shocked with the results. Just in no time, google gave me the links from these high PR site.

You can also find quality blog commenting links from . GOV .ORG and others. Just replace .COM in first part of string with .GOV , .ORG and you are good.

hope this will help you find quality blogs to comment on

I devote most of my time to link building (i.e in contacting and convincing other) webmasters to link to me. This has been a *working* and winning strategy to me. Also to diverse my traffic sources, I do bookmark, blog comment and work on web 2.0 properties.

It's actually a lot easier than people make out around here.

All you have to do is...

    CREATE GOOD CONTENT.

Make people want to link to you... for free. Make the web useful, interesting, controversial, newsworthy, inspiring.

    Contribute, then capitalize.

You can get thousands of back links for free, if you just create good content from the start.
