If you had 20k to invest into your online biz how would you delegate it?

FB ads? Google Ad words? Build your backlinks? Upgrade your website? Build a key word search?

Hire someone to do it for you?

Lets hear it.

I hired a US based company that runs my offshore team, we have used them over and over and have obtained outstanding results. We took a company from 6M to 128M in two years and did it with their help. We have also generated over 1/2 a billion in revenue for our clients using the same model with various companies. However, there are some websites that wouldent benefit as much with the same type of budget, what kind of website do you have?

My top revenue source is selling customized diet programs.

Do you think the same sources that you used would be ideal for me?

            Honestly,
I think i would focuse on blog and forum commenting more so than doing other types of links. The reason for this logic is that blog and forum commenting creates traffic while other types of links will have a much longer payback time in terms of ROI. Because the weight loss industry is so highly competitive you need to focus on links that have a quicker reaction rate in terms of traffic generated. The links will still build value for youre keywords which need to be very long string and specialized, but you are creating traffic that will help you obtain leads and sales. I think you would be smart to divide youre 20K over 5 or 6 months of offshore backlinking. Hope that helps. Oh, yeah i do think it would be ideal for you as well. Thanks

I see your ratio of PPC investment on the total is quite low. How's that? Did you compare the lead cost for PPC with the lead cost for the other methods? Are the natural/social channels constantly driving traffic with no extra cost?

I would have expected more PPC and less money spent in "free" traffic.
I am interested in your experience (my experience is with PPC driven traffic of course)

        Hey Marco,
I don't place a lot of value on PPC as it's a much harder game to control you're cost per acquisition especially on lower margin goods. I believe that backlinks hold much more weight as they not only drive traffic but also increase your likelihood of being ranked on the keywords located in your anchor text. The double impact makes it the best option. The only reason i use PPC initially is to help me show up in more directories and become more visible to Google. Although they won't admit it, advertising on Google does help you get ranked on more keywords and keyword variations if done right. Backlinks may cost more money initially but he long term traffic drives down your CPA to inconsequential amounts. PPC is a gun that only fires one bullet, once you've spent the cartridge its gone and so is the money you spent on that one click. I would rather pay once and have steady traffic. PPC is a great way to start off but you are always fighting an uphill battle. Making the right choices though on how you spend your budget can mean making or breaking you're business. I have seen so many people spend their entire budget on PPC and not have a dime to show for it. Hope that clarifies things for you. Thanks for the question.

the last thing i would invest into my business is paid traffic, i would put that on product creation and hiring people to help me out. I wouldn't blow the whole thing either.

PPC can jump start your business if you do it correctly. If you aren't willing to invest in PPC at first, then it could potentially take quite a while to get customers in front of your offer. If you learn PPC, you could invest in it and potentially double or triple your investment.

outsourcing, to see if who you hire is qualified give them quality test, on some freelance sites they have test that you can give your candidates.

      Hey Scott,
I have used some of the sites youre probably thinking about but even with high test scores it comes down to careful management. Its vital that you keep a very close eye on the types of links they create, how relevant they are to you're industry, if they have any PR Value, and the types of links and varying the amounts and types of links they create. I have seen many cases where outsourcing ruined a companies online reputation and standing with Google. If spending 20K you have to make sure its money well spent otherwise its a wash.

I know guys who got people to try out for them, and he tested the links to make sure they was of high quality, and same for web design, and graphic design, he had these people try out and the guy who performed better got the job, me personally I never outsourced full time, its something I need to think about doing, odesk has very professional people unlike other sites that allow anyone to sign up and say I can do this.

It is not as cut and dry as some people have posted. You can't just say, "This is how I would spend the money." Successful budgeting of advertising dollars requires testing. Buy small campaigns. Put more money into what works and abandon what doesn't work.

I have posted before in a similar thread that I was an online media buyer for a large company with an enormous budget. Whenever I bought banner ads I would ask for a 48 hour cancellation clause. Most campaigns required 30 days payment up front, but if we did not see the results promised in the first 48 hours then we would get the remaining 28 days refunded. If the website refused the cancellation clause, then I didn't buy from them. Always ask for this clause when buying banner advertising.

I had 40k months ago, now I only have like 20-25k left.
Not sure where they all went but I started 3 new projects with it.

Just scale up whatever it is that made you the 20k to begin with.

I would spend most of it on good quality content and I would also get some interesting link baits going and some other bits and pieces but most of it on new content definitely.

First of all. What do you want to achieve with that $20?

No, "make more money" is not an acceptable answer...

What kind of business are you in or do you want to be in?
What do you want to sell?
What help do you need to sell it?
    Who are you selling to?

Bottom line, you need a plan.

For me, I'm a one trick pony who believes in the Allen Says method of online marketing.

    1. Create a great offer
    2. Make it convert as well as humanly possible
    3. Enlist affiliates/JVs
    4. Profit

    (5. Do it again)

But that's just me. I love affiliate marketing. Hell I love it so much I created my own affiliate network.

But that works for me because I really love the model. I love meeting new people and working out how we can both profit from it.

Others would hate it. And if you hate it, you're not going to stick with it the first time it goes horribly wrong ... or the 100th

I want to achieve VERY high daily unique visitors to my site. I also want to build a top notch "sell" page. I want to advertise on FB and Google Adwords.

My issue is that I need help from experts on doing all off the above.

My online business sells customized training & diet programs.

The help I need is how to set up all the avenues listed above.

The demographic I am trying to reach is 90% females and maybe 10% males that are interested in fat loss through smart exercise and nutrition.

      I agree, I do need a plan.

Keep in mind that the following advice is biased by the fact that I love affiliate marketing. That's my model, that's what I love. It may not work for you and it's not the only option.

Personally, I don't want to have to worry about the specifics of SEO (even though I'm really good at it) or PPC, or article marketing, or video marketing, or Facebook marketing or ... insert flavour of the week here (mmm strawberry).

I focus on high conversion offers are recruiting affiliates that know how to do that stuff for me. This way I never have to worry about getting the contract details right. Or if they actually know what they are doing. I set it up so that I make a profit on every unit sold then it's in my interest for them to make as much as possible because then so am I!

The easiest thing to do will be to buy already profitable websites in Flippa at 10x to 12x monthly profit. Look to buy those websites auto-pilot mode (different from auto-blogs). This means that you can get back your investment in around an years time.

    Watchout for scamsters though.

With 20k, I'd get 100 low competition keywords with 10,000+ Exact Monthly Searches. I'd build 100 websites for each keyword, making sure I can get an exact match domain (.com, .net or .org) for each keyword. I'd get to top of google for that keyword, 1 press release per site and 50 HIGH PR backlinks per site plus 1 article per site. Monetise each site and tweek each site after that.

Obviously with 20k, I'd outsource as much as possible, to be honest that would only take up like 2k-5k maximum for 100 sites.

tbh I'm scared of PPC thats why I wouldn't want to invest (only if its last resort) theres just no guarantee that PPC clicks will convert to buyers, and I guess you can say the same thing about free traffic, but atleast I'm not wasting money on non converting traffic.

plus if there are more people like me and avoid the right side of google whats the point?

PPC is like anything else that needs to be learned. There are plenty of books and tutorials out there that can help you learn it properly. Not to mention if you start out with a small amount of money, you won't really lose your shirt if you mess up.

well said, I made a mistake of setting a budget to high on my first try, and wound up blowing through my 100 dollar adwords credit in one day with only a few clicks - I know there is people that could of done big things with that 100 dollar credit.
