Contact us link " How to best Create "

Is it ok to have a contact us link in text just open up directly to your email address or should the link go to a contact us form with some protection. What are the best methods to do this and are the problems to watch out for. I need to do this for multiple sites so can a contact us form on each overcome the need to have multiple email addresses ( one for each different site ).

Captcha protected form is likely the best bet. A "mailto:" href-type of link exposes your email (and this = more spam in the long run), and it's pretty hit and miss if people have the required 3rd party mail client configured to send you a message in that popup. I think a form is better in majority of cases.

I agree., its better to have And it gives another page for you to advertise your product/service. It also gives you another reason to add content (address, for local seo purpose).

Hmmm... if you are using wordpress there are plenty of plugins that can get this working for you.

I would definately use a form instead of email. Otherwise the spam will really start coming in.

If I have several sites across a range of subjects if I use a form for contact on each site could I have them sent through to one common email hence stopping the need to have heaps of different email addresses or is this bad practice?

Just wanted to get the question out again . Can ayone suggest a free or paid for software or script to create forms for contact us pages across a range of my sites? Can I use the one email to feed all those forms through? If I use Aweber to manage a list is this kind of service included?

I have started building up sites but have yet to get to the stage of building a list and having too much contact with visitors but I am about to so this is a complete new world for me.

      Thanks in Advance

Just wanted to add is it ok to just do this using Dreamweaver to create a contact us form or would you recommend getting a script or software to do this? What are the pitfalls either way???
