Building backlinks for a page- Different anchor texts or just one?

I know that many believe that its best to target one keyword per page(post). But, is this referring to using the actual keyword in the post, or does it also apply to link building.

I mean is it ok to use different keywords as anchor texts to build backlinks for that page? or should you just focus on one keyword when building backlinks for that page?

Thank you in advance.

Use at least three different anchor texts...

You want Google to see your inbound links as more "natural", and if all of your links use the exact same keywords, there is nothing natural about that...

I heard rumor that Google will trigger a red flag on any URL that has more than 60% of its links set with the same anchor text... That is why I always target a minimum of 3 anchor texts when I build links, because that helps me avoid the 60% -- whether real or not...

i tend to keep mine to under 5 keywords...it's good to focus on a set of them, but also have the capability to not limit myself
