keep your domain short. Even if your keyword is long tail one. For example your keyword is "how to train your dog not to dig holes", then do you think "howtotrainyourdognottodigholes.com" is good keyword? NO. SEO is not about domain name only. On-page SEO counts too.

Answer to your question: i would go with keywordkeyword.com

If you are buying the domain name for value, the version without the hyphens typically has the highest domain resale value. Also, regarding SEO, typically, the search engine will find the keywords just fine, too.

I would go with keywordkeywordkeyword.com. I try to stay away from dashes and anything 3 keyword's long when buying domains.

more than two words is a big NO for hyphenated, one hyphen works but not as well as a normal .com

keywordkeywordkeyword.com is much more useful for word of mouth advertising. I would go with that.

Rumor has it that hyphenated domain names don't perform as well in Google as non-hyphenated domain names. Whether or not there is truth in that theory, the jury is still out.

I would recommend, like most people here, stick to a non-hyphenated domain name whenever possible, and keep it short, sweet and simple. Less typing, the better. When it comes to SEO, content is king - domain name just adds a small piece to the puzzle.

        Cheers,
        Brian

As the others have stated, avoid the hyphenated website names whenever possible. Without question, the flow is better.

When my company and I work with a client, sometimes they are setting up a new business and choosing a new domain name. This issue comes up for discussion regularly. I cannot think of any well known companies that have a hyphen in their domain names.

If you have business cards printed, you may want to write it as KeywordKeywordKeyword.com in order to avoid any confusion.

General rule I use is to keep the domain less than 24 characters in length. I also try to avoid hyphens in the domain if I am trying to get it ranked in the search engines.

If it is for a sales page, I'll use hyphens in the domain.

        Hope that helps.

Non-hypenated. I hate typing in dashes because though I can type all the letters on my keyboard without looking at the keyboard, I without fail have to stop and look for the hypen. More than one hypen ... I'm miffed!

From the recent SEOmoz Masterclass in Bulgaria:

Short, exact match keyword domains are best, if you can snag them. If not, go for hyphenated keyword domains as your next best option.

Personally, judging by the amounts people pay for used domains (money talks) stay away from hyphens.

It really depends on how you're going to be getting traffic - if you want people to type it in after seeing it on the side of your van goo for something short, ryhming and memorable. If going for serps - short and keyword related

I don't like dashes. They look weird, are harder to type, and in my experience have never lead to better results than domains without dashes.

    thats not entirely true.

I compete with another site in one of my niches that has a 3 keyword hyphenated domain but I still havent been able to knock him off top spot

non hyphenated here too. Although the domain is "only 3 words" it can still be a lot to type not like the 3 words are like sobeit.com or something like that where 3 words is 10 times shorter than your 3 words. Just saying the words isnt all that matters its also about character count I would say matters.

Not only for SEO but for the users and potential people going to the site. I like Margo24's idea of just keywordkeyword.com although to me even thats a bit much.

But either way no hyphens! especially not 2. no one likes saying "keyword hyphen keyword hyphen keyword dot com" just doesnt have a nice ring to it
