How Does One Become A Social Media Consultant? Any Recommened Training Courses Or Coaching?

Hey guys, well i know there are a couple of people here on warrior forum who do social media consultancy as a profitable full time business.

I've been doing some research in the country I live, where almsot everyone is connected via facebook. Now i can see the effective use of sales promotion this could bring to business looking to increase brand awareness to their product or service.

The only thing is i'm am not sure what is required of a social media consultant, and being a complete newbie like myself... I would really appreciate any advice on how to get started. Be it training courses or 1 on 1 coaching.

Any advice is welcomed

Thank you
Kerron

There's no body or association that certifies "social media consultants", so just do research (in this forum, in other forums, Googling things like "facebook for business" to find articles, etc,), synthesize that information for yourself and you will consequently know more than the people you are trying to consult to. Then start approaching businesses. Maybe focus on one aspect to begin with until you are comfortable.

Consultants are not demigods and they do not know everything 100%. They just know more than the average insurance guy or chiropractor or dentist.

Thanks for this contribution Zara. You make very valid points. I guess with a bit of research, practice and a bit or marketing skills anyone can become a "consultant".

If you know how to use Twitter and Facebook, you are often more skilled than your customers...

Most social media consultants fell off the turnip truck and convinced companies to spend money on social media marketing under the pre-text of "building business", yet most everyone who has been around the block once or twice understands that social media is great for branding, but very poor for direct sales...
